Collage of three photos, two square ones at the top and a landscape shaped under. The first one shows Victoria Street in Edinburgh with The Quaker Meeting House sign visible. The second one is a room showing a speaker next to a screen at the far end and people sitting around tables looking towards the speaker. The landscape photo shows the white blooms of snowdrops on their green stems.

Thank Isabel! I always worry that if I don't have an actual pitch to put in their hands they'll feel I'm wasting their time and keeping them away from more important people (damned imposter syndrome!) but I think I need to get over myself and adopt a bit more of a brazen approach!

Publication day has finally arrived for my latest translation from Spanish: Singing to the Sun, by Regina Rodrรญguez Sirvent, published by Amazon Crossing.
This book was so much fun to translate, it still made me laugh even after my umpteenth revision!

A moment that changed me: in the bombed-out ruins of an apartment block, I saw a book Iโ€™d translated The sight of my work, torn and singed but still legible, made me realise the importance of translating and protecting stories โ€“ so they remain when everything else falls away

Youโ€™ve all read this, yes?

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hello lovely Blueskyers! Do I (or you?) know any gothic novel fans (or even better, with links to the UK publishing industry)? A student I know is keen to ask research questions about British gothic novels by women authors over the years and their correlation with societal changes. And pls share!
