Went through something similar in my 20s. I persisted while they told me I was depressed and needed medication and when they told me I was overreacting to pain. Eventually I was diagnosed with 3 diseases that almost killed me, including cancer. My doctor apologized for not believing me.

I never did but have used it in baking for sure.
