But honestly, correct me if I’m wrong! I don’t know too much about Godzilla, so if I’m missing a crucial detail about his biology, let me know!

Synapsids are the intial split between what would become dinosaurs and reptiles, and mammals. As such, Godzilla gaining mammalian traits such as full bipedalism and the indented snout, while also keeping his spinal spikes and scales makes the most sense if Godzilla is a Synapsid.

He also is very unlikely to be a mammal due to the scales, which leaves one option.. he’s very mammalian, while not being a mammal and expressing many reptilian traits.

I believe Godzilla is a Synapsid, closely related to Dimetrodon.

Crocodilomorphs: same issue with the snout.

Reptiles: Godzilla is likely not a reptile, due to living at the bottom of the ocean when he’s not stomping Tokyo. I believe Godzilla would have to live next to hydrothermal vents or be endothermic. Reptiles aren’t.

Every other theropod group: the theropods all come down to one massive issue. The skull shape. Godzilla for the most part has a very noticeable separation between the top of his head and the nasal ridge. It’s actually a very mammalian trait.

Tyrannosaur/Abelisaur: while closer matches in skull shape, this is unlikely due to needing to regrow arms.

Dromaeosaur/Aves: I don’t see it likely considering how small on average these creatures were

Godzilla is very likely not a dinosaur, my logic behind this is.. what kind of dinosaur would he be? Let’s go through the options:

Spinosauridae: spinosauridae have very long and slender snouts for catching fish. They likely would never lose this trait.

If I’m so bold to say, I’m still hesitant on CT S4. I think S2 and 3 were underwhelming, but still serviceable. Frankly what I don’t understand is people using it to dunk on dominion more. We get it, you didn’t like it, but can we at least wait till both are out to compare???
