All of this just to go back to my original question to you.
Do you have any evidence of harm from children from attending such events?

Iβm glad you recognize they are movies but you missed the whole point. All the movies I listed are rated βParental Guidanceβ PG.
We can agree that itβs weird but itβs also not illegal or wrong. Parents choose if they want their kids to attend this or not, that doesnβt mean it should be banned.
Are movies not storytelling?

Kids have no choice but to be in school, itβs parents choice to let them go to the library and have people in drag read them a story.

I guess Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy are pretty weird for their roles in Jack and Jill (PG) and Norbit (PG-13) respectively and of course Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire (PG-13).
I donβt see them demanding anything other than requesting a public venue to act. If we want to talk about demandingβ¦
The problem is Privilege. If youβre anything other than a White, Heterosexual, Christian Male any slight against you is justified because youβre different and thatβs your own fault.
I have no problem with traditional family values. I draw the line when people push those beliefs onto everyone else.
Adult weirdness does not necessitate harm, it promotes diversity and inclusion when different groups of people are allowed to exist in public and be seen. Parents do real harm to their children when they shame them for exploring, trying on different labels to find the ones that fit them best.
07.01.2026 19:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I do find it weird, but unfortunately I havenβt seen any evidence of drag queens forcing their way into libraries for story time. Could you share?
Likewise, libraries are public meeting spaces that are open to everyone regardless of their race/gender/religion or age in a public environment.

03.07.2023 13:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's also keeping in mind Bluesky is still in beta.
I think it will definitely play into people's choice of where to go. Mastodon and the Fediverse have the benefit of time. They are ready to go now while Bluesky is playing a little bit of catch up.
Like the one problem I see that is hurting Bluesky right now is just the signup limitations. Bluesky is potentially missing thousands of new signups that are being picked up by competitors or the fediverse.
The network effect will drive the traffic. It's just an arms race for now.
IIRC Jack is here directing the show in some capacity so I'd hope the lessons learned from Twitter can help Bluesky from repeating them. I think it'll definitely be interesting to see where people ultimately choose to move to once the dust settles a bit.
03.07.2023 12:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It brings a lot of the familiar UI back which I greatly appreciate. I think it's definitely a strong competitor, it should attempt to avoid repeating the same pitfalls of Twitter if they want to avoid recreating the same situations though.
03.07.2023 12:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve used Mastodon on and off since 2017. Iβm instance admin for one and in my experience itβs not bad, itβs just different.
The big thing Mastodon doesnβt do is firehose all known instances into the federated timeline so getting started is a bit difficult cause the timeline feels slow.
I know it's still in beta and stuff but Blue Sky #IPv6 when?
03.07.2023 12:29 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Gonna give this a shot. Still gonna keep my Mastodon account and maintain the instance as I've always done but nice to have options.
I'll add more info to my profile throughout the day.
