12.06.2025 12:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 030 years ago, FL agreed to follow its established policy to not make decisions about what services to provide to foster children and families based on immigration status. Imagine how devastating the implications of such a policy reversal would be to our neighbors.

12.06.2025 11:58 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 4 π 0Florida authorities called ICE on a teenager in foster care in violation of the Undocumented Child Rule, which prohibits Department of Children and Families workers from acting on a childβs immigration status. 11.06.2025 18:54 β π 80 π 31 π¬ 6 π 1Florida child welfare officers found a 17-year-old living in a shed with no food or water. They sent him to a foster home... and then reported him to ICE, whereupon he was handcuffed and shackled and marched to detention.
Not only is that victimizing him again, it violates Florida's own rules.
Florida child welfare authorities turned over a 17-year-old foster child to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, sparking intense criticism that the action could hinder efforts to protect children in the stateβs large immigrant communities. The Honduran teen was removed from his Pensacola foster home Monday morning β in handcuffs and shackles β and transferred immediately into ICE custody. The boy and his mother had crossed the southwest border into the U.S. without permission, sources familiar with the case told the Miami Herald. After being separated from his mother, who was later deported, the boy traveled from Texas to Pensacola, where he sought work. He entered foster care after he was found living in a shed with no source of food, shelter or income, records show. The boy, whose first name is Henry, also may have been a victim of labor trafficking. The Herald is not fully naming him to protect his privacy. Florida welfare authorities have turned over a 17-year-old foster child to ICE.
He has already been separated from his mother, who was deported.
He may have been the victim of labor trafficking.
Yet, he was taken from his foster home in shackles.
A minor.
