Looking for Books!

Specifically I’m hoping to find books that have the theme of Fae in the capacity of being creepy, alien, other worldly, etc.

If you have a recommendation, please send them to me.

ALRIGHT gather round people.

If you donate $30+ to the gofundme in the QRP, I'll draw you a fun little sketch of your OC or D&D character (style examples below)

If you can't, I fully get it. Please spread the word thank you πŸ’š

Details in the thread! 🧡

Been pondering about some things and one of these pondering has lead me to come here and ask the following:

Do you know of a table top game where players play minor deities? Or perhaps characters who graduate to being minor deities?

Top photo from Kill Bill, Beatrix (The Bride), holding a sword surrounded by people in suits with a band tied around their eyes also holding swords. Middle photo is an image from Kingsman The Secret Service with Harry Hart aka Galahad standing with his back to two men with windows behind them. Third image is a headshot of John Wick with about 25 guns pointed point blank at his head.

Fingers crossed this will reach enough people that I can get a wide spread of answers.

I’m looking for movies with amazing choreographed fight scenes! What are your favourites?

Think things like Kill Bill, Kingsman: The Secret Service, John Wick, etc.

Not gonna lie. I was pretty excited when I figured out not only did Hectic Electron create β€œDefy the Gods” but they also created another favourite game of mine called β€œRaccoon Sky Pirates” which is a fantastic board game where everyone plays trash pandas trying to collect garbage to fly a ship!

Really had a fun time playing this and could easily see it as a short term campaign. Easy rules for new players, fun chaos for goblins, and new shiny things to collect for games (is one deck really ever enough?)!

I play tested several games over the weekend and two of them made my β€œI’m buying a copy” list. Check out the other posts to see which they are. One was on kickstarter last year, but copies are still available. The other has the kickstarter going live in about a month.

🧡"So this is how liberty dies..."

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

This could be a really fun game and I’d be curious to hear from folks what kind of system would best support it.

Also, Canva is such a fun tool!

Sometimes she sacrifices realism for cool visual storytelling which broke the immersion for me a couple of times but I can appreciate why they took that route. [4/4]

Hands down, Song to Drown Rivers is a tragedy by Shakespearean standards (read: everyone dies). I wish I’d have read the back to know that prior. Liang is great at describing stuff. If you like flowery writing (which I do) this book has that. [3/4]

[Books]

Read β€œA Song to Drown Rivers” by Ann Liang.

I probably should not have read this right after β€œIron Widow” as they have similar enough vibes. One is more angry, one is more of grief and desperation. [2/4]

I promised books, so here’s my latest review! I try to avoid spoilers for fellow book goblins, and try to remain fairly impartial minus a couple of solid boundaries I have (mostly CW and ending a book with β€˜to be continued,’ but those are mostly as a heads up).

Without further ado… [1/4]

Hallmark needs to start making Hallowe’en romances. She’s a gal from the big city seeking a new life in a small town. He’s a mysterious horseman cursed to throw his flaming head at passersby for eternity. And when these two meet one night, sparks, and heads, will fly.
