Been pondering about some things and one of these pondering has lead me to come here and ask the following:

Do you know of a table top game where players play minor deities? Or perhaps characters who graduate to being minor deities?

Not gonna lie. I was pretty excited when I figured out not only did Hectic Electron create “Defy the Gods” but they also created another favourite game of mine called “Raccoon Sky Pirates” which is a fantastic board game where everyone plays trash pandas trying to collect garbage to fly a ship!

Defy the Gods is a queer sword & sorcery story game Powered by the Apocalypse. Fall in love, explore a mysterious world, and fight to overthrow the jealous gods and cruel tyrants who would destroy you.

“Defy the Gods” by Hectic Electron is a Sword and Sorcery TTRPG about queer romance and cursed power. PbtA with some unique fun additions. So many positive things about this game. Character creation, character abilities, techniques to help others! 10/10 must get!

Really had a fun time playing this and could easily see it as a short term campaign. Easy rules for new players, fun chaos for goblins, and new shiny things to collect for games (is one deck really ever enough?)!

I play tested several games over the weekend and two of them made my “I’m buying a copy” list. Check out the other posts to see which they are. One was on kickstarter last year, but copies are still available. The other has the kickstarter going live in about a month.

“A Fool’s Errand” by J Strautman (from Planet Arcana podcast). Each player does challenges using a tarot deck. Play the Fool amongst a team of Fools to either help the gods (major arcana) or against them. The world is collaboratively built. 10/10 great game

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

This could be a really fun game and I’d be curious to hear from folks what kind of system would best support it.

Also, Canva is such a fun tool!

Sometimes she sacrifices realism for cool visual storytelling which broke the immersion for me a couple of times but I can appreciate why they took that route. [4/4]

Hands down, Song to Drown Rivers is a tragedy by Shakespearean standards (read: everyone dies). I wish I’d have read the back to know that prior. Liang is great at describing stuff. If you like flowery writing (which I do) this book has that. [3/4]

I promised books, so here’s my latest review! I try to avoid spoilers for fellow book goblins, and try to remain fairly impartial minus a couple of solid boundaries I have (mostly CW and ending a book with ‘to be continued,’ but those are mostly as a heads up).
