This is not an appeal or defense of Rowling or the HP series, just an attempt to empathize with those who do find comfort in the world being crafted, and want to claim that feeling for their own personal experience

I do see the appeal, considering that a lot of HP fans are neurodivergent, the idea of a very structured life where you can feel useful in plenty of different ways that appeal to your specific interests sounds pretty cool. In my mind it's the same way the military appeals to ND individuals

Nothing will match the eternal bliss of when you've had your mouth open for a while, it's all dry, and then they spray that good good water right in your gullet 🤤

For anyone who needs to hear it, the advice to "always do your best" does not necessarily mean "always be the best."

Our "best" can change from day to day. Every day is different.

Doing your best just means being kind with yourself—knowing what you want and having the courage to go after it.

For me the same thing applies to motion blur, there are poor implementations of it but when it's done well it looks REALLY good- but no people swear it off entirely because a game they played in 2010 had bad motion blur

Bloom is such an important aspect of visuals, and I will never forgive the masses for rejecting it's early implementations as if the concept of bloom itself is terrible 😭

I think the people who view autism as this nebulous, evil, fate worse than death have genuinely just never spoken to an autistic individual (or haven't realized how many people they've already spoken to are)

headline in my inbox: "The War on Tylenol". Except that it isn't? It's a eugenicist war on pregnant people, blaming them and their medical caregivers for autism, which the eugenicists regard as a fate worse than death. Focusing on Tylenol hides that fact.

It certainly is interesting the ways that people's brains work differently when it comes to navigation, or really any aspect of a game. And it goes to show how smart of a decision it is to have the compass be something you have to deliberately choose to bring
