The evil uncle stuff in the last few eps of WYMM is so jarring. Why even do it? The rest of the show is a sugary romcom ffs. ML trauma arcs at the back end of the show are probably my least favourite trope. Almost ruined Hometown CCC for me too, now that I think about it. #kdrama

I will concede however that I did eat all the philly cheesesteaks.

Also the first episode or two did have me empathising with my own parents, who worried that I was being brainwashed by some sort of cult.

So here's what I find enthralling about #SpiritFingers. It captures that feeling of being accepted by adults - who are neither family nor authority figures - as a *person* for the first time. Memories of being in theatre productions, age 13, and treated not as a kid but as a cast member. #kdrama

Gosh, this is fascinating. Do you see Confucianism as powering the sense of catharsis Kdramas appear to do so well? I say “appear” because now I wonder if what my eye mistakes for catharsis - enduring, overcoming and becoming - is actually conditioned relief at the (re)establishment of proper order.
