In Scotland we’re known for braving the cold, battling the wind and pretending it’s ‘taps aff’ weather at 12°C. But there’s one thing we won’t just tough out - losing Scotland’s wild places.

It’s in our nature to act. Sign our petition and stand up for nature: www.wwf.org.uk/scotland/202... ✏️

Agriculture is one of the biggest sources of emissions in Scotland - nature-friendly farming could be a major part of the solution, with benefits for food producers, wildlife and the climate.

We're pleased that the @parliament.scot Rural Affairs and Islands Committee has backed proposals in the Natural Environment Bill to introduce statutory targets to restore nature.

We are pleased to see strong support in today’s report from the committee for the introduction of legal nature restoration targets, along with reforms to deer management and National Parks.

It is also reassuring that they recognised that Part 2 of the bill poses a significant risk to wildlife in our most iconic landscapes.

RSPB Scotland remains convinced that Part 2 of the Natural Environment Bill is unnecessary.

We are calling on the Scottish Government to remove or significantly amend this section.

🚨Good to see today's committee report calling for major improvements to Scotland’s new nature law.

Part 2 of the Natural Environment Bill could significantly weaken protections for Scotland’s wildlife – from seabird colonies at Bass Rock to Golden Eagles in the Cairngorms.

It must be fixed!

Right now just 5% of Scotland’s farm funding directly supports nature-friendly farming. That’s nowhere near enough.

Ahead of next year’s elections call on party leaders to commit to investing in a future where wildlife and farmers thrive 🚜 🐦🐝

This is predicted to be one of the most damaging windfarms for birds we are aware of anywhere on the planet.

We support nature positive offshore wind, but this isn’t it. It’s a disaster in the making.

“This is a very dark day for seabirds.
Berwick Bank would be catastrophic for Scotland’s globally important seabirds which are already facing alarming declines. Its impacts are so damaging it will make it very difficult for other, less-harmful windfarms to come forward. We are incredibly concerned that Scottish Government have granted consent for a project which could catapult some of Scotland’s most-loved seabird species towards extinction.”

A dark day for Scotland’s seabirds.

We're incredibly concerned that Scottish Government have granted consent for the Berwick Bank offshore windfarm, which could catapult some of our most vulnerable species toward extinction 🚨

We will carefully scrutinise the details and consider our next steps.

Today, we handed in a petition with over 100,000 voices calling on the UK Chancellor not to cut the budget for nature friendly farming.

This matters to Scotland because if the UK budget is cut, it is harder to secure funding for Scottish farmers and crofters to support nature.

• Investing in nature friendly farming
• Restoring peatlands
• Expanding native woodlands
