Some devastating news today.

Earlier this year the First Minister @johnswinney.bsky.social said "nature should be at the heart of climate action". This decision flies in the face of that.

This is predicted to be one of the most damaging windfarms for birds we are aware of anywhere on the planet.

We support nature positive offshore wind, but this isn’t it. It’s a disaster in the making.

“This is a very dark day for seabirds. Berwick Bank would be catastrophic for Scotland’s globally important seabirds which are already facing alarming declines. Its impacts are so damaging it will make it very difficult for other, less-harmful windfarms to come forward. We are incredibly concerned that Scottish Government have granted consent for a project which could catapult some of Scotland’s most-loved seabird species towards extinction.”

A post-mortem has confirmed that a dead Sparrowhawk found in Inverness last month had been shot with a shotgun.

The RSPB and Police Scotland are appealing for anyone with information in connection to this incident to come forward.
