God, great piece from @damemagazine.bsky.social about living with institutional failure. I'll freely admit I'm furious at times just thinking about the institutions that should have at least tried to do something and instead contented themselves with the sidelines or outright collaboration.

In general, I don't weigh in on the nitty gritty of their electoral politics because I don't know enough and enthusiastic support for Newsom usually comes from just that. It's the same as the people cheering on Conway for that congressional seat in NY; he's a terrible fit and it wouldn't be a flip.

A large proportion of the Newsom fans on this app are Canadian or British. Their opinion truly carries no weight.

At a certain point I need to mute “Newsom” because the debates around him are just fucking bait. He’s not electable, but also we’re so far from a primary. Nobody’s getting anointed in 2026; stop arguing with centrists who need to log off, touch grass, and find ways to process their anxiety.

Once you see how often people online are just posting through their own anxiety/depression, you’ll feel a lot less drive to engage with them

I am at this level of tired and fatigue where I have a quiet moment to work on my own stuff (not cleaning, not cooking, not taking care of my kid, and not coding) and I just...can't. It's not writer's block, I feel like it's something more fundamental, like I need 5 or 10 minutes to start a thing.

Trying to understand low info voters is looking through a glass darkly. It is so hard to set aside what *you* know and see the world through their eyes, and nothing illustrates that better than how they see and perceive Trump.
