We are watching the Jim Carey Christmas Carol, which in my opinion is underrated. It’s intense but super faithful to the original story and full of the symbolism Dickens puts in it.
Dickens sees the spirit that is light and reveals and says, “Are you the spirit whose coming was foretold?”
“I am”

It’s terrible. I wonder how this era will be written about one day in the history books.

Candace Owens used to be be annoying and right-wing. Now she might be actually crazy?

Oh I thought he was because he went to Southern and is involved in the SBC. Glad he’s not a pastor, but southern baptists have elevated him as if he is one!

I just skimmed through some of those and Wolfe makes me so mad with his “import the third world, become the third world” because he’s a pastor, right? He probably supports missionaries working in the third world. Bah! “Minister” to them, but don’t want them here. So patronizing and icky.

I know kids that went to Lane Tech, I know this area. Even if you think a daycare employee that is undocumented should be deported, do you get how horrendous these optics are?? It’s so crazy…

Opinion | We're Norman Rockwell's family. Trump's DHS has shamefully misused his work. | Opinion — USA TODAY
As Norman Rockwell's family, we know he'd be devastated to see the Department of Homeland Security's unauthorized misuse of his work.
“The scarcity of people of color…has led those who are not familiar with his entire oeuvre to draw the conclusion that his vision was of a White America, free of immigrants and people of color. But nothing could have been further from the truth.” 1/

Asmr from outside my house at sunset last night. I was out wrestling in prayer for a young mom who teeters between life and death at the hospital in our town. It’s a treatable disease but she only just started medication. Will her body hold out long enough for the medicine to start working?

Being a non-sports-person scrolling through my social media feeds right now feels a little like wandering into the middle of a Pentecostal prayer service.
Everyone is talking at once and I cannot understand one word of what they are saying, but they are all very excited about whatever it is. (Yay?)

The DHS using Tolkien to try to legitimize the actions of ICE. There indeed won’t be a Shire if there are orcs making raids and dragging Gandalf from Bilbo’s birthday party because he’s not a hobbit.
Sorry, that’s a mess, but so is what they posted!

Yeah. Or at least, it is as affordable as every other book is? I suppose if it means that Bibles are out of reach financially for people, that could be accurate. Few people own books because all books are expensive. But in that case it’s partially a poverty map.

I think this is… not true in many places. Bibles are easily available. There are online shopping companies where you can order it to arrive at your door if you want one.

Florence: the beauty and corruption of Medici patronage
Pondering the effects of money and power on religion during the Renaissance
So much that is externally beautiful during the Renaissance. It all looks externally religious, but I grew sobered as I walked, pondering it all and comparing it to our own day.

I continue to feel shocked that the White House posts videos to celebrate men in chains. I showed this video to my daughter and she was shocked. “Why are they doing that to them?! Those guys are just like us here! They are just trying to make a home!”
