I learned this existed very recently while binging a paleontology podcast for escapism reasons.

And our poor eyeballs. We have multiple specialized structures just to keep them wet and clean off the grossness that gets on them.

And your nasal passages. They're fighting with all their might to stay mucousy because we just keep passing filthy air over them.

A fair concern. I don't want to oversell it. I don't believe this will be a transformative work which reshapes society. However, thus far, fans have been pleased.

The oxygen is how many people a recommendation can interact with, how energetic that rec can be. A rec over coffee in a kitchen is low energy, one by a trusted source in a newspaper is higher energy.

A viral post on socials has potentially unlimited oxygen...

The strength of recommendations is our heat, how much people like a book and want to talk about it. That is the part that requires it to be an actually good book, or at least interesting. Folk don't talk about boring books...
