A stylized textbox that reads, Evaluating AI Content: what Librarians and Educators need to know: A Library 2.0/Learning Revolution Masterclass with Reed Hepler"
Three hours until "Evaluating AI Content!" We are going to talk about not only a "quality spectrum" of human-AI content, but also how to discuss with its "creators" about its nature.
Please come with your questions, concerns, doubts, and possible solutions!

From a "work culture" evaluation:
"This individual wants problems to solve and may create one in order to have work."
Essentially, I am an academic racketeer?

In a world increasingly filled with AI-generated content, AI-moderated content, and AI-influenced work, librarians and educators need practical skills to evaluate quality, integrity, and the human judgment behind digital resources.

not to be all it-was-capitalism-all-along abt it but it's almost like no one shld HAVE to create art TO SURVIVE
we'd get better art that way, in whatever format ppl choose to create in
if the platform or medium the artist chooses is built around monetization, it will stifle all decent art in the end
23.01.2026 20:14 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0
On the one hand, patronage was ultra-capitalism, but on the other hand, it did allow (somewhat) artistic autonomy--as long as the commissioned pieces were done, in SOME arrangements the artist could do whatever else they wanted.
23.01.2026 20:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Sounds like a quasi-patronage arrangement where people individually or collectively provide artists room and board independently of when or how they create art, just the fact that they are artists is enough, and the public can commission paintings, and artists can also create things they want.

Not only will we discuss the difference between poorly-made slop and genuine human-AI collaboration, we will discuss potential actions we can take if we are responsible to communicate about the presence or quality issues of AI slop.

Evaluating AI Content
Library 2.0 is a social network
In two weeks, on February 3, I will talk about the difference between AI Slop and AI "alloys," or "artifacts."
The question "Was this made with AI?" has become ubiquitousβand largely irrelevant. What actually matters is: Was this made well?

Just over three hours until the "AI Does Books" webinar!
There have been multiple webinars and posts (and social media comments, of course!) about "automating book creation," which just results in more AI slop.
This webinar will, hopefully, help people collaborAIte to make AI books the RIGHT way.

Next Tuesday, I will be talking about how "AI Does Books," and one of the main questions (and rightful concerns) people have had about this presentation is how to preserve the human element. This pyramid will help us talk about that.

AI DOES BOOKS
Library 2.0 is a social network
One week until the "AI Does Books" webinar!
Please note, this is NOT "AI Writes Books." It is a HUMAN-centered webinar. I will NOT tell you how to use AI to generate a book or a chapter in a one-and-done conversation, because that is irresponsible, dangerous, and just... tacky.

Music is one of the most human things imaginable. I want music recommendations from humans who understand how special it is. Even advertising agents at Deutsche Grammaphon would be preferable to an algorithm or AI

Forget Manus, PopAI, ChatGPT.
#BoodleBox just released the ability to create #PowerPoint files that you can download.
This was one of the things that I was relying on generated code for (which BoodleBox was giving me no problem with, anyway), but this makes it even easier!

Hello Claire, and thank you for writing. I wrote to you via the Witches of Scotland website some time ago and asked if you'd be making a non-wool version of this tartan, as I wanted to purchase it from you but cannot wear wool. I never received a reply, so I bought non-wool fabric elsewhere.

We have forgotten the ancient art of making mixtapes/playlists. This is how the machines take over: making us incapable or too languid to exert any autonomy over what media we consume. #ai #music #spotify #genai #aimusic #algorithms #consumerism #corporation #narrative

This is me now:
Except that this was not an "algorithm" or "AI" problem. Complacency regarding quality of music, film, really any type of media was an issue as far back as the 2000s when comic/novel mega-franchises redefined the meaning of "series."
