Couldn’t tell you what happened in the new superman film. I spent 2 hrs marvelling at how absurdly supple Nicholas Hoult’s skin is. Incredible. Not a wrinkle on the man.

Don’t do a poetry reading, mention that the following poems are for your recently passed father (for context), and not expect everyone to come up after and offer their condolences. Very stupidly I did not see that coming

Just write words. They don't have to be good. In fact, the less you feel about them the better off you will be. Preserve yourself. You're going to be doing this for the rest of your life.

If you’ve not read it already, Men Who Hate Women (Laura Bates) would be a great place to start research for this!

SpareRoom is actually worse than the dating apps bc there’s no alcohol involved and also bc they’re not only rejecting me, they’re rejecting my plants. Frankie and Boris never hurt anyone and don’t deserve this

Stocks fell sharply today as 5% of investors suddenly realized that it shouldn't cost a trillion dollars to make a machine that writes terrible poems.

My dad just called me to request we collect his ashes in a weetabix box bc he thinks it would be hilarious. My stepmother does not find this hilarious. Unfortunately for her this does, in fact, make the prospect even more hilarious

Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.

Anyone else surprised by Gizzi winning the TS Eliot or is it just me and everyone else I’m talking to on WhatsApp…? Genuinely expected Gboyega Odubanjo to sweep no question. Deservedly so.

My writing process is usually:

a) I got this
b) well, fuck
c) wait that part was real good
d) wait no that part sucks
e) I am a god of this place
f) the fuck is this shit, who do I think I am, why am I here
g) oh man I just figured it all out
h) mistakes were made
I) existential dread

I haven’t written any theory on this but taking this oppty to share one of my favourite poems of all time that very much leans into ‘wish you were here’ as a concept by Gabrielle Calvocoressi
