Almost dnf'ed at 75% but skimmed on because saw someone say the plot twist/cliffhanger was cool (it wasn't)

I would've wanted higher stakes and tension.

Considering how much I enjoyed the first book, I'm pretty disappointed. This one fell flat completely. It was all very underdeveloped and underwhelming.
Felt nothing for any of the characters except the Arcanaeum itself.
