The Witch Head Nebula is a vast reflection nebula located in the constellation Eridanus, near the bright star Rigel in Orion. Its peculiar shape resembles a witch’s profile wearing a pointed hat. The dust in the nebula reflects Rigel’s intense blue light.

The North America Nebula, NGC7000 in Cygnus

North America Nebula, imaged a few nights ago.
Processed in HOO with only 50 mins of integration (10 subs) per channel due to lack of darkness.
This is my first true narrowband mono image. Bit of a learning curve compared to what I'm used to, but good fun.
Compression has killed resolution a lot 😕

The bright red nebulosity near top left is the Herbig-Haro object HH103.📚

This "small cluster" contains around 130 stars less than one million years old. These baby stars are very energetic and emit a copious amount of radiation that breaks apart the clouds of natal gas that surrounds them. The edges of this newly formed cavity glows pink due to the excited hydrogen gas.

The image was taken at the observatory of IAS at Hakos Farm in Namibia.

This star cradle lies about 1000 ly away, between the California Nebula and the Pleiades. It consists of a reflection nebula and a cluster of 400 young stars, together with parts of the molecular cloud from which the stars were born. The brightest star is Atik (Omicron Persei).

So, here is my first image using N.I.N.A. Whilst it's not perfect, (no pixel peepers please 😆) it's a success for me. I learned a lot at astro camp from the help of others, and I got everything working at home, and captured an image! This is 3.75 hours on the Rosette Nebula.

The summer nebula are now starting to rise in the early hours.
so I grabbed a backyard shot of the Tulip nebula SH2-101 in cygnus (The swan).

Blue Origin just sent a "crew of astronauts into space".
It's amazing that a company that sends people so high can set the bar so low.

This is a closeup of NGC 2237, a series of dark nebula bands on the Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. The bands extend in the photo from the middle left to the upper right and include dark structures sometimes referred to as Bok Globules. Some of my images from the total solar eclipse a year ago today. I am still very happy with how these turned out compared to my 2017 eclipse photos.

What an amazing coincidence that we happen to live in a time when the moon and sun are almost the same apparent size in the sky.

🔭There's a Monkey Head in the night sky: #NGC2174, about 6400 light years away. I took this from my backyard in Berlin and removed the stars, so the nebula pops out more. The image was taken by only recording light emitted by Ha, OIII and SII particles, aka "narrowband imaging". 🔭

🤔popular analogy but being on the surface of a balloon implies that you are at the edge of the universe, far away from the "center".
