We have no cats today but say hello to the library car park snail. ๐ŸŒ

We think he was on his way to borrow a book but he's not arrived yet.

This is grim & dangerous over reach.

This is a government that have lost the moral argument & are still selling arms to Israel. Now further cracking down on dissent.

Absolutely the opposite of what they should be doing - so of course this is what the Labour Government choose.

usually if you ask experts why an empire fell theyโ€™ll say itโ€™s nuanced and multifaceted, so i think itโ€™s kind of cool that with America future historians will get to just say like โ€œoh they took the idiot train to moronsvilleโ€

A trading card featuring an illustration of TOS-era Leonard McCoy. The card has been put into a clear card sleeve, which has a border on it made of stickers. The stickers are all cutesy and blue, mostly hearts, stars, bows, and flowers.

If you take dynamic ads for a podcast, there's now a standardised "IAB code" block form you fill in, to say you don't want certain sorts of ads. It's INSANELY long. So many categories. Individual *pets*.

You can't choose to say no to ads for:
Crypto
Gen AI
NFTs
Tech grifts etc

Tech bros. Oh well.

I agreed to help cook for one of our visiting lecturers, so I did a huge bowl of dhal. I sat at the back of the lecture and drew everyone who came. The lecture was by samiahenni.com who was a great speaker, taking about nuclear testing and its effects (spoilers: effects not good)

Henni has made a deep study of the French nuclear testing and its effects, and her greatest point for me was that these projects take time - creating a deep interest and body of knowledge with the skills you have now is a big investment.

An dusty, industrial looking control panel in a wall. There are two big white square buttons on it. The one on the left has a red border and the letter 'i' touching the bottom, representing a person stuck to the ground (the dot of the i being their head). The 2nd button also has a red border, but inside the button is an upside down stickman figure, arms and legs spread out. To indicate this person is floating around helplessly in zero-gravity.

You know who should've won an Oscar last night? The person who designed the little 'Gravity on / off' buttons in Alien Romulus.

The answer is that the first one has more โ€œopenโ€ paper, where the structure of the paper soaks up water better. The other book - which was three times the cost ๐Ÿ˜ค - is more concerned about what the paper โ€œshouldโ€ look like, and so gives it a shitty texture. Sigh. Only 102 pages to go ๐Ÿ˜”

The โ€œwatercolourโ€ notebook is very frustrating, as although it says itโ€™s a watercolour notebook it is just very thin paper with a slightly textured surface. So itโ€™s really for tinted drawings. But why?
