Outside of film inspiration, I just set out to emulate the sorts of noises space probes detect in the radio waves emitted by celestial bodies.

Overall, this song is as experimental as my work gets,

And a word on the palette itself. While this is part of an album celebrating the game Bloodborne, the inspiration came more from a couple films.

Altered States is one of them, appropriately enough given today’s purchase.

The hotel scenes at the end of 2001 were another source for this one,

to improve the palette as a whole and reduce/remove chances of clipping from Layer B.

The eerieness of the track remains though, and that is what is most important.

I also didn’t completely lose the airy strangeness from Layer A quite as much thanks to tamping down the +1.0 dB boost I’d given to Layer B in the setup menu on the #wavestate.

So overall, the changes I made to the patch last night and this morning were definitely the right choices

Mastering for "alheimurinn" version 3 has begun.

I am much happier with the palette. Layer B’s deep sub-bass through a flanger is much tamer but still eerie enough and you can hear its undulations without it being overwhelming. It’ll be a treat for folks with subwoofers.

Paperbacks in half-decent condition are triple-digit figures too

I wish I could get hold of a copy of Chayefsky’s book of it but that seems next to impossible without a ridiculous sum of money for a copy in half-decent condition.

And I just saw that Arrow Video has a special blu-ray release of Flatliners. That’s next on my radar
