I first discovered @dhm.bsky.social’s writing when his article about Rocky’s running route when viral in 2013. I emailed him the day the article came out to get his permission to turn it into a real run. The past December, the 13th Annual Rocky 50k was run.

every silly thing they think about, every hilarious and cringeworthy performative thing that’s like my family lip syncing Samantha Fox.

I’ll always remember that video because of how precious it was, how much work and time went into it, and how it was one of few things like that from my childhood.

That tape was amazing. We laughed, sang, it was hilarious. But you had to come over our house and hang out, and you had to know my parents to some extent to see it. It was this single copy thing intended for home viewership.

Point is: I see so much stuff from people on social. Every life update,

The business they went to did a whole lighting setup, production, etc. The idea was “Star in your own music video!” They came home and like two weeks later the place mailed a VHS to our house with their music video.

Naturally, my brothers and I, family members, etc., watched the tape a lot.
