20.10.2025 22:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So I spun up a sequoia VM in parallels. But no. Because the Mac doesnโt now see the FW it canโt offer it to the VM. So now resurrecting an old iMac to do scanning only. Itโs frustrating. Thanks for listening! I should tag Apple here, but I fear thereโs no point.

Iโve been using it with a Mac mini M4 using an Apple usbc to thunderbolt adapter, a thunderbolt to FireWire 800 adapter and an FW800 to FW400 cable. Worked like a charm. Along comes Tahoe and nothing works.
20.10.2025 22:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 01st World Problem Alert: I just learned that Apple have dropped support for FireWire in their latest OS Tahoe. I learned the hard way. Connected my scanner to my new Mac mini running Sequoia and all fine. Updated the Mac to Tahoe and nothing. Now I do film photography.

REFORM UK ARE LYING TO YOU!
This is why nothing ever sticks.
It's a cult like, Dunning Krugeresque faith system that attracts highly opinionated people who have "decided already" that they are right and who "believe what they see" rather than acquainting themselves with facts.
And itโs so stressful to listen to their output, being sufficiently intelligent to see through the rubbish, and know many people who, bluntly, either arenโt or just want any quick fix.

But he does not address this point in his article.
