We have been asking the same thing for a long time. The rest of the world cannot fucking believe the (lack of productive) reaction of the American citizen. Quebec students return to class as new civility rules come into effect | CBC News In a bid to improve student behaviour in Quebec schools, new rules are now in effect requiring students to use formal language when addressing teachers and school staff.

1) Students already address teachers by their title and last name (eg. Ms. Shibata) and is not necessary.

2) This is a distraction from government underfunding of direct special education and mental health supports for students.
