this looks really delicious :) it is so satisfying when i can make something myself or with support worker rather than buying it ready made ! i hope you can feel the same way, it looks like you did a awesome job :D

i was BIG stress because i got a notice that i had to move everything off my balcony by end of weekend so workers could do repairs and most of my supports and my parents were away and i cannot do by myself. but my parents are coming back a bit early and they helped me make a board to plan every out

i have sections in my AAC/visual routines and lists app that is helpful for this. i plan out my morning and night time routines because i find it difficult to transition from daytime mode to nighttime mode specifically. so i have planned out every step and it takes a long time to go through them all

this way if for example we do not get to doing the laundry with one worker and i have someone else the next day i can put in the chat i want to do laundry tomorrow so there is continuity between shifts, and accountability for me to actually do my laundry xD

had a galaxy brain level (very good) idea with one of my support workers yesterday !! she suggested i could make a group chat with all my support workers in it so it can make communication and coordination of shifts and tasks better. i am going to ask everyone if they are ok to do it

but instead i just sat on my bed in my school uniform for several hours fidgeting with a coathanger rather than changing into the other clothes that were on it. i desperately wanted to be doing something else but could not make myself do it #AutChat

A3 #AutChat i am not sure as i am not good at comparing two times together but i do remember having very similar experiences when i was very young and it happened so consistently i had a name for it. one example i remember was i had gotten home from school and wanted to get changed into home clothes
23.02.2025 21:34 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
yes a lot of the time i will hyperfocus on something on my computer or tablet and will not look away for it for hours and get a headache and eye strain #AutChat
23.02.2025 21:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
yes it can be very troublesome because i can get into the zone of doing something and then realise 6 hours later i have not gotten up, eaten, drank anything, or gone to the bathroom etc. also sometimes even without that the hyperfocus can cause overwhelm because it is Too intense #AutChat
23.02.2025 21:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
that it does not have to necessarily be all encompassing of every autistic experience for it to be a valid thing for people to relate to and find useful. i like caveats like that. i find people's experiences are generally too diverse and complex to be covered by one theory to end all other theories
23.02.2025 21:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
not a specific criticism of monotropism as i have not really studied it very much, just generally my experience of theories. it just means if something is all encompassing like that i am less likely to relate to it or look much further. i do like though that in an article i saw the authors said
23.02.2025 21:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
i tend to have trouble with theories that aim to cover all aspects of something, because i feel they either will be too specific and miss certain aspects, or if they try to cover everything they get so general as to lose meaning. my thinking works in a very compartmentalised way.
23.02.2025 21:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
A2 #AutChat my feelings about it maybe negative but also complex. i do not like the trouble i have & upset i get when i have to transition between things/start or stop something. but hyperfocus can be positive for me when i get really into something. but again also negative bc i neglect basic needs
23.02.2025 21:18 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
hello ! :D
23.02.2025 21:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
A1 #AutChat i relate to autistic inertia but not so much to monotropism. i find it hard to start, stop and transition between tasks, situations, and internal states. i have not looked into monotropism that much, but for me inertia is not such an all encompassing thing but just one part of my autism

i am not crediting the autism orgs for self discovery movements' advances
