Man, Coretta Scott was a bad ass.
14.02.2026 22:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read this and The Violent Take It by Force back-to-back. They complement each other quite well.
14.02.2026 21:33 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I stayed with Fletcher's Band from the last part of 1924 to almost [the end of] 1925. We played at the Roseland Ballroom for over Six Months, then we went on tour. We were the First Colored Big Band to Hit the Road. We went All through the New England States. We spent our First Summer up in Lawrence Mass-That was our Headquarters, while we played dances to all the Surrounding Towns. Was quite a Thrilling Experi-ence to have most of my days off and we would go 'Swimming' etc. Buster Bailey was exceptionally good at Swimming. He would Swim all the way cross that big 'River in Lawrence Mass. Of course I am not so bad myself at 'Swimming.-In fact it's one of my' famous 'Hobbies, outside of "Typing." I loves that also.
Every so often I think back to how Louis Armstrong spent time in my hometown of Lawrence, Mass. The big river must be the Merrimack. From the book 'In His Own Words.'
14.02.2026 19:03 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just learned Karoline Leavitt attended the same Catholic high school I did and I feel like some stuff just makes more sense now
14.02.2026 01:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's pretty depressing how his critiques of media elites and white liberals and protest-scolding centrists in the 50s and 60s would still hit targets today.
13.02.2026 22:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Only a third of the way through this book and it's great so far. In addition to providing some history of MLK's northern experiences it also pushes back on the characterization that his views on economic equality were only a late-in-life development.
13.02.2026 22:19 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0that's an amazing name
13.02.2026 21:16 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0why is the guy who hasn't won yet in the middle?
13.02.2026 17:18 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βWe see Nashville [and] Middle Tennessee families navigating this landscape every day, because love doesnβt really wait for papers,β says Will York of Ozment Law.
13.02.2026 16:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Valentine's Day is coming up, so I spoke to an immigration lawyer and a couple that decided to leave Tennessee about the turbulent legal environment facing couples of different citizenship and immigration statuses. Read it at @nashvillescene.com.

This makes me think of my dad, then in his 60s, hearing "Don't Speak" for the first time (years after its release) and learning the guitar tabs for it.

I met a raccoon after the Super Bowl on Sunday. It was meandering around the house, using its hands to get into stuff, leading to one of the most Nashville photos Iβve ever taken.

"Sexton said the legislation was written in consultation with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, a key architect of the Trump administrationβs immigration crackdown. Tennessee Republican leaders have called the package of bills a 'model for the rest of the nation.'"

09.02.2026 17:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Something that was so great was that while the PR point of view was clear, so many aspects resonate with other facets of Latin America and the diaspora. It didn't feel like he was just checking off boxes to make everyone feel included and trusted the imagery to resonate.

09.02.2026 02:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The advertising during the game stood out for a high number of celebrity cameos and advertisements for futuristic technology, particularly for products like electric vehicles, virtual reality and cryptocurrency.[136][137][138][139] There were many cryptocurrency-related ads drawing comparisons to dot-com commercials during Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000,[140][141] leading some to refer to the game as the "Crypto Bowl".[142][143]
does anyone else remember when the 2022 Super Bowl had so many crypto ads people were calling it the Crypto Bowl and then crypto just absolutely fucking tanked?
anyway
