Für die Untersuchung „Did Your Mum Not Hug You Enough? The Effects of Attachment Experience and Callous-Unemotional Traits on Catcalling Behavior of Men“ wurden 155 Männer im Alter zwischen 19 und 83 Jahren befragt.

Watching AI Testimony at a Real Murder Trial
Let's sit with this for a moment & ponder. I guess I'll have to write into my will, explicitly, that I do not want anyone to recreate me into AI and put words into my mouth I would've never said. Anyone who dares will die a slow painful death while shitting their guts out.

know they have an artist wage in Iceland? Artists apply and have to prove they make a certain amount of stuff. Gosh I wish other countries had stuff like that.

Yeah it's unfortunately true, that the quickest way to kill passion for art is to make it a job. But honestly it's the only thing I can do. With my accumulation of diagnoses people keep telling me to give up and just exist in welfare but I will not give up as long as I can hold a pen. Did you

back the 200-300 bucks I used to easily make a month just by existing on social media. Which, yes, also means I have to learn a new way of how to survive. Which also makes me feel like a crunchy old dinosaur. Anyways, thank you for valuing art! It truly means a lot that people like you exist!

AI won't kill art but many small artists are choking. Just how way less portrait artists can live off of their work now than probably 200 years ago? I might be wrong, idk. I just don't think idealism can override the lived experience of people. Me yelling "human art is important" doesn't give me

you mentioned photography didn't kill portraits. Yes, but way more people are fine w/ photos and don't need a portrait painted ever. Just like AI now is the convenient alternative. There's just way less customers now for artists who desperately try to survive. Less money to pay bills.

Unfortunately, the people who used to ask me to make stuff for them now use chatgpt and show it to me like it's the best thing in the world. I get what you mean, and I agree mostly. But unfortunately, there are many people who don't value it the way you do. AI won't be the end of art just like

be of importance, but the smaller ways in which we could make money have dried up for good. Being independent has become so much harder. All those people who only used artists as a means to an end bc they didn't have an alternative, now have a cheap way to not having to pay artists.

I got carried away, sorry. My point was, yes I agree with you 100%. But in this capitalist hellscape, for many people an artist is inconvenient, so is paying them. It's easier to let a machine quickly generate stuff and then pick something. Easier, cheaper, quicker. I do think artists will always

how important it would be for their own wellbeing to get their hands dirty and dive into flow and forget themselves for a while, and then hold something they did with their own hands and feel this emotion I can't even describe in words. This certain something that keeps you upright in dire times.

It's so rampant that it's normalized to the point people don't know what they would need to do to live a life in which they're happy, nourished, and capable of pursuing their own happiness. They're too lazy, or actually I think maybe too afraid, of doing something themselves. They don't grasp

don't explore their own mind. It feels so lonely, and cold, and it saddens me. Not just for artists who don't make money as easily anymore, but also for those AI users. They cut themselves off in a way they, deep down, don't seem to grasp. I guess that's what's so sinister about emotional neglect.
30.10.2025 00:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
And it saddens me how people choose to not explore that. How people just don't *know* the value in creating something themselves. Even, and especially, when it's not perfect. They don't write themselves anymore, don't draw themselves. They let the hallucinating lying machine do it for them and

Art is the one thing that makes us, in a way, immortal. It nourishes our deepest emotional needs. It fosters connections, makes us feel less alone. There's endless value in all of that. In speaking with a voice and listening to the voices of others. Being, and perceiving others' being.

but now I just hope to land a job as an instructor in an art school, or some corp job somewhere. I need some resemblance of security.
And I grieve... something. It's hard to pinpoint. Creating is such a beautiful way of expressing oneself. We're all just weird blobs of stardust in an endless space.
30.10.2025 00:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
In the end it doesn't matter what I believe. I mean yes of course it matters, but ultimately, I can't sell to people to whom I mean nothing, you know? That's why I started to go to art school, to learn more and be (hopefully) less replaceable. I used to think I could live off of commissions

in which I'm not below the poverty line. To those poorer, often disabled, often marginalized artists, AI did take away ways to survive. A few 100 bucks here and there make a huge difference. Those little commissions for a few bucks saved medications and electricity bills.

I agree with you! But unfortunately to many people it's all the same. I used to be able to make money w commissions. Pet died? I made a portrait. Christmas or weddings cards? Yup. Weird little doodles or DnD characters? Yesss. Now people just ask chatgpt. It's hard sometimes to believe in a future
30.10.2025 00:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
That does sound frustrating! I'm not sure about the sense of significance. A few years ago I would've said YES. But to be honest, I'm struggling with that one now with all the AI stuff. I have my idealism, I do think human voices are valuable, but many people don't agree anymore.

Heated up the frozen pumpkin soup we made a few days ago, and the smell gave me a flashback to a stew I ate at a hotel when I was 3,5 years old. Nothing bad or anything, just a memory I literally haven't thought of in 34 years.
