According to this @zdfde.bsky.social Politbarometer poll, 76% of Germans are in favour of more defence spending with new debt.

This includes 90% of CDU voters, 52% of Die Linke voters and even 70% of FDP voters.

A fiscal public opinion revolution.

The American National Election Study has been fielded at every US presidential election since 1948 and has led the world in the study of elections. The political withdrawal of funding for it would be destructive and a dangerous signal regarding the future of survey research in America.

Kindleberger Spiral is an inward spiral, visualizing the steady collapse of world trade.

As someone trained as a trade economist, it is my duty to share the 1929-1933 Kindleberger Spiral, showing the month-month decline in global trade due to the combined factors of the (global) Great Depression and retaliatory tariffs. Smooth Hawley is implemented mid-June 1930.

Very important broader point about progressive-leaning policy change -- there may be people who were in the same position before and received no help, leading them to resent the policy change
