What's the cost of an unused station? What's the benefit of an available station? One day is way too short to make a decision on. The east end looks like it has lots of capacity (note, there are lots of physical barriers out there, it is hard to ride in).

Does it need optimizing? And what is your definition of the east end?

I am confused, I thought you were heading east?
Or is this a preliminary day trip to the west coast?

In this case I would include the writers.
The general case: Stakeholder: money, management, workers, suppliers, customers, and general public. Every group elects the same number of board members.
In this case I think we can leave out suppliers and public.
Designed to resist enshittification.

How about a multistakeholder one? Subscribers get a seat on the board. Enough of a perq to move the needle?

The modern version of blockbusting.
Some years ago on Harrison (Dundas/Osssington) there was a failed building permission so they unsafely gutted the buildings and let them fall down. They eventually got their permissions.

Given that the ring of fire has no producing mines right now this is a bit of a stretch.

The reason we don't have automatic form filing is to protect the tax preparation industry.

My issue is not the original event, but not getting out in front of it before announcing for Senate and running over the whistle blower on the campaign.

I think you are conflating ignorance and lack of intelligence. I suspect the odds of randomly selecting a tattoo in a Croatian tattoo place and not getting a Nazi symbol are kind of low.

Before 1968(?) wards in Toronto went from the lakeshore to the northern city boundary (except in the centre, where they went to about St Clair, and a ward in the west end).
The political result was to disenfranchise voters south of Bloor St, since most of the homeowners lived north of that.

I remember getting scrutineering instructions about challenging business owners (mostly lawyers) about voting twice. This would be well into the 70's.
The other key thing was killing off the gerrymandering of the strip ward system. That system effectively disenfranchised downtown Toronto.

We can't even do that with current downtown councillors.

18.10.2025 16:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
Partly this was a hangover from the strip ward gerrymander and partly the development industry's stranglehold on political power.
Question: Just how big do you think the old city would have to get to obtain the clout you are seeking?
18.10.2025 16:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Also it is not clear that just having more people downtown will produce more effective political clout. In the 70's (when I showed up) the old part of Toronto had relatively more people than it does now, but not much effective political power.

Not quite so passive. I want to organize the suburbs to vote to urbanize themselves.
