Designed a program to help one client with the distinction between figurative and literal language, and the other therapists had trouble running it because they use the figurative phrasing so often without thinking about it that they couldn't tell the difference any better than the client.

I work with kids with autism, and it takes conscious effort to remember not to deliver instructions as questions. If I ask, "do you want to do some work," it better be because "no" is an acceptable answer, because these kids'll tell me the truth, not the lie I want to hear.

Depends on context, but generally yes, to the point where it can be hard to turn it off.

The laws he followed were the Rules of Acquisition, but he followed them for their own sake, not only when it benefited him.

And he only DIDN'T follow them in service of some other good.

I think my favorite King protags are his "greater than the sum of our parts" hero teams like the Loser's Club from It, Boulderites from The Stand, and Roland's ka-tet in Dark Tower. Gives him license to stretch a little if no one character has to do all the heavy lifting.

Weakest link for me I think was Sheriff-uh Pangborn, who was functional enough as a viewpoint protagonist but felt a little by-the-numbers to me. He did what he needed to do, though, and the small town side stories, fun premise, and banger villain more than picked up the slack.

So they're making a new Street Fighter movie, and I'm sure the guy they got to play M Bison will be perfectly serviceable, and I fully expect to spend every minute of his screen time missing Raul Julia with all my heart.

It's certainly a lot of words to say "I guess there's still a dump truck of money big enough to get me to do the steroids."

It is dumbfounding to me that, out of all the amazing movies he's made, THIS bland-ass white savior story is the well he thinks is worth going back to again and again.

Speaking only for myself, I don't mind it, just because Bluesky is still a smaller, quieter place than Twitter used to be so I don't have a big signal-to-noise ratio problem to manage on my timeline.

I've got the theme from St. Elmo's Fire stuck in my head and playing it over and over in Clone Hero isn't getting it out for some reason, but I'm-a keep trying.

If there *must* be a big-budget live-action Zelda movie, the least they can do is feature Beedle the merchant played by a lone Muppet in an otherwise human cast, and never acknowledge the difference in any way. If they can't give us that much, what are they even doing?

I went to an open mic night a while ago, and something like 3/4 of the sets started with the comic saying they had autism.

"So every female character will be defined by wanting to fuck the male lead, who I will play." I don't think you get away with that if you're one iota less talented than Lin Manuel Miranda.

There's a typo in that headline. "Re" elected would imply that they were elected the first time.

The musical, the man, or both?

So I read an article about a certain plot point and, boy, unless the article writer was just plain making shit up, it's one of those things that's just baffling that multiple people had to greenlight it and not one of them said, "wait, this is fucking stupid."

Oh sure, and I don't begrudge you mocking people who deserve it, I just like my thought experiment more. (:
