His companion from Atlas Academy lay mired in the Grimm’s insides, some white melted substance covering her left eye. The right one fluttered open, and struggled to focus. She finally locked onto Bronn’s face, piercing him with her silver gaze. “Bronn…” she muttered weakly. “You made it.” “Nyx, I-“ “Stop. It’s weak now, but it’s regenerating,” Nyx said. “You have to kill me to stop it.” “No, I can’t!” “You have to. I can’t fight anymore. K…. Killllll…” Her eye became unfocused again, and her speech slurred. The white mass over her left eye began pulsing rhythmically. “Killlll…. Meee….” “Nyx!” Bronn shouted, but a single gunshot silenced him. He looked up, and saw Emerald aiming one of her guns at Nyx. Emerald fired again, and again, and a fourth time, tears streaming down her face. When she had finally finished, she sank to her knees. The Grimm began to disintegrate, no longer able to survive without Nyx serving as its host. Bronn sat down heavily in the sand, then fell backward, staring up at the sky, his mind racing with what he had just seen. How could Nyx have been alive? How was she transformed into a Grimm? How many other people from his team had survived? From Mantle, from Atlas?

Up until that point, though, Emerald got *so annoyed* whenever he was around. She was about to get jumped by four things in a bar, he showed up to break it up, and she hated it.

The first time Armin met Adira, she was trying to kill him. Granted, she was on a mission and he was in her way. The next time they met, she knocked him out to give her time to get away. After he woke up, he chased after her, and saved her when she was betrayed and left for dead.

“I’m sorry I lied to you all.” Alice said, mostly to herself. “But I needed these cages free. There are so many of them, and there are so many people in the above world that belong in them. You will kill them, bring them here, and their children will be left alone to be under my control. Just like how I was. It’s what they all deserve.” This twist of hers brought hysterical, screaming laughter to Alice. She spun around in the sea of her mindless minions surrounding her, reveling in their misery and their despair, almost feeding off of it as if she needed it to survive. Once again, Alice felt unstoppable.

  “You’re not still at the cemetery, are you?” Allie sounded a wee bit judgmental.  “No, I’m lost in…Fort Solonga, I think.  I’m not really sure.  I guess that’s what lost means, huh?”  I was trying to read the signs on the buildings as I passed.  Wherever I was, there wasn’t much around besides huge houses set back from the road, mostly hidden behind towering trees.  I felt like I was trespassing even being in their neighborhood and that, any minute, torch wielding villagers would step out in front of my car and banish me, yelling that I clearly didn’t belong in fancy pants land.  I could fit at least four of the house I grew up in inside one of those houses, some of them even just inside the garage.
