Missed him AGAIN. Worth a hastily-planned trip to Austin to catch one of the last US shows, or nah?

Portrait of Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet. Not the main character of the wildly popular movie KPop Demon Hunters. I’m being facetious.

My daughter says she wants to be Rumi for Halloween..? Weird but ok.

Men claim women talk too much, but boy if you get that man on a panel, he will over talk every woman present in the room.

This story outlines a common theme in the Trump admin: 20,000 young adults were given just 5 days' notice when this program was cut, leaving them to find housing, health care, food, and new job training out of the blueβ€”in a program specifically for people who were struggling to secure those things.

If you care about Medicaid, I need your help. These kids are the best chance we have of saving Medicaid.

Families are on the way to DC. We need to cover van rentals and hotel rooms. I will not, I will NOT, waste your money or time.

Can you help get this donation link in front of your people?

CLARIFICATION :

The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline.

They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY

So spread this around

They can be texted. They can be called.

All the credit that Tim Walz got as a VP candidate for good stuff that Minnesota has done? Melissa Hortman (and a bunch of other women) led the hard fight to get bills on his desk and make it politically safe for him to sign.

? My point is that kids *do* still need to get vaccinated for COVID-19. β€œJab” is a term also used in many other countries.

I don’t even know how to convey to people outside of public health how devastating this is.. and to include so many non-controversial, bedrock public health functions like food inspections, ffs. Seems their utter foolishness is as boundless as their cruelty.

I have a ticket to the Fauci lecture at the U tonight but frankly can’t stomach any more conversation about how fcked public health is after another day of witnessing it up close. Just hours of conversation with colleagues and community partners who are devastated, disillusioned, and despondent. πŸ’”

Brutal day at MDH amidst a dark time for all of public health. My heart aches for the many colleagues & partners who deserve so much better. And many of us are holding our breath, wondering if we’re next, knowing the cuts & disruption are far from over. I hate this so much. πŸ’”

This isn’t a bad idea.. Agree on a day in April when at least half the teleworkers across the Enterprise come in. Document the parking chaos, lack of desks, sitting on the hallway floor only to join Teams meetings, multitude other barriers to productivity, much less wellbeing. Maybe tip the media.

MAPE and AFSCME denounce Walz’s unilateral decision to revoke telework agreements for state employees | Minnesota Association of Professional Employees

This is a very bad look, @governorwalz.mn.gov. Remote telework is still safer for employees and their families. It's better for the environment, reduces road infrastructure wear, and it opens career pathways for disabled, marginalized, and underrepresented people to work.

I think we’re seeing just how much he cares about people with disabilities, chronic illness, neurodivergence, etc. with this move (and other budget recommendations). Our agency had finally made some gains in diversifying the workforce. This shows folks they are not actually welcome in the Enterprise

I’ll say it again: That I should work from another city so businesses there can theoretically get my $ instead of those in my own neighborhood is not only absurd, it’s selfish. And I’ll have far less spare time, money or energy to support ANY local businesses for non-essentials, any day of the week.

A commute significantly reduces my time with my kid before and after school, so I’m sure as hell not lingering around St Paul when work is done. And with the added expenses of gas, car maintenance, a parking contract & more childcare hours, I’ll be bringing my lunch.

Must’ve missed the part of my job description where it says, β€œsave downtown St Paul.” I run a program that serves folks from all over Minnesota, which requires remote work. Literally no point to going into an office in another city just to sit in virtual meetings and read my email.

As a daughter of small business owners, I’m intimately familiar with the struggle. It impacted my whole damn childhood. AND. I care infinitely more about the wellbeing of my colleagues who are disabled and/or working moms and/or people of color than I do about saving shops & bars the next town over.

Loved finding out about the RTO mandate within two hours of learning that many millions of dollars in federal support was being yanked, effective as of *the day before.* But sure, underpaid, overextended state employees should be taking this news better. πŸ™„
