This isn’t a bad idea.. Agree on a day in April when at least half the teleworkers across the Enterprise come in. Document the parking chaos, lack of desks, sitting on the hallway floor only to join Teams meetings, multitude other barriers to productivity, much less wellbeing. Maybe tip the media.

I think we’re seeing just how much he cares about people with disabilities, chronic illness, neurodivergence, etc. with this move (and other budget recommendations). Our agency had finally made some gains in diversifying the workforce. This shows folks they are not actually welcome in the Enterprise

I’ll say it again: That I should work from another city so businesses there can theoretically get my $ instead of those in my own neighborhood is not only absurd, it’s selfish. A commute significantly reduces my time with my kid before and after school, so I’m sure as hell not lingering around St Paul when work is done. And with the added expenses of gas, car maintenance, a parking contract & more childcare hours, I’ll be bringing my lunch.

Must’ve missed the part of my job description where it says, “save downtown St Paul.” I run a program that serves folks from all over Minnesota, which requires remote work. Literally no point to going into an office in another city just to sit in virtual meetings and read my email.

As a daughter of small business owners, I’m intimately familiar with the struggle. It impacted my whole damn childhood. AND. I care infinitely more about the wellbeing of my colleagues who are disabled and/or working moms and/or people of color than I do about saving shops & bars the next town over.

Loved finding out about the RTO mandate within two hours of learning that many millions of dollars in federal support was being yanked, effective as of *the day before.* But sure, underpaid, overextended state employees should be taking this news better. 🙄
