We went on leave for a week of well-earned rest. We were paid the money we earned during the summer at the seaside, so I had a lot of money, the most I had ever had. So I thought I was in heaven, money to spend on a girl who had become more than a friend, she was my all. By the time my leave was over, we had decided that we were meant for each other. When the time came to go back, I didn't want to go. Wyn came with me to the station. Lime Street Station was a hive of activity, with lots of troops there. A territorial regiment was going to camp, so I thought to hell with it, I'm going to have an extra night's leave, so we went back home. When I got to Wyn's house, I rang up the barracks and told them that I had missed my train. I told them that there had been a regiment boarding another train and their band played the national anthem, so I had to stand to attention. By the time they finished my train had pulled out, leaving me stranded until the next train which was the next morning. When I finally got back to barracks, I was put on a charge for being absent without leave. The regimental sergeant major had the provost sergeant ring the railway transport office in Liverpool to verify my story and yes, he said, a battalion of the King's Liverpool did entrain at that time and on that day, so my case was dismissed and I got off scot-free.

I may have been in architecture school over a decade ago but this still checks out. So many architecture professors were into experimental tech for the sake of the tech, often overlooking that it was straight up bad or not useful.
So I'm disappointed but not surprised that your profs are like this

I'm not really trying to say anything other than I know sometimes people like to claim audiobooks aren't reading but I think ultimately that's not a very useful or helpful argument, as most of that kind of gatekeeping generally proves itself to be

As someone who loves to read but struggles to make time for it, so have started devouring books via audiobook, I think both are reading, but they are definitely different. I think personally, I find it a little easier to retain information from a book I've physically read, & I have a better sense>

I have this book! It's excellent. The author has since started a successful dragon collecting online game which has quite lovely art. :)

I feel like ps3 - ps4 was a big jump, but I haven't seen anything amazing from the current gen in comparison (not speaking for xbox as I didn't have one). But maybe I just got old and happy with what I was used to. Like genuinely I don't know if i need games prettier or better than rdr2

Indeed! I suppose one could potentially in the future say "there is no life an observable distance from here" but I wonder if we could reach even that.
