Still with the sea as my muse and while waiting for my first-ever beta-reader feedback on my first ever novel, I’m doing something I never dreamed of - plotting the second. Dreaming big. The best is yet to come.

I’m reflecting on my good fortune to have been born when I was and to live my life extravagantly and with such freedom of choice. And yet now to have to wonder what activism will be required of women to maintain these rights in the face of the US regime change that would seek to engulf Europe too.

I’ve spent a wonderful month taking the slow road from Newcastle, UK, to Newcastle, NSW, two cities whose fortunes were built on coal, NSW still exporting as much as 143 million tonnes of the stuff in 2023. It’s also a city of beaches, my preferred territory 🤭 Fabulous - the view from my balcony.

One calendar month into my trip and the end is not even in sight 😄 East coast tomorrow 🇦🇺❤️

Little did I think I would re-read my favourite book of all time in the very place that is its focus. Posted in the Asylum Café, Port Arthur, Tasmania. A ‘must read’ anywhere.

I’ve not known the luxury of long-term travel before and my relaxation response has kicked in now. Not looking for glasses, phone, and keys several times a day has reduced my blood pressure significantly. When you travel light, if you can’t find something, it’s because you’re sitting on it. 😎

I am in the apartment I have dreamed of for ever with this view of the Southern Ocean. Swam today. Went the same colour as the sea. I’m really better off on the balcony with my book.

I like it that I’m expected to be responsible for myself here in WA. It’s survival of the fittest.

I’ve never really understood the point of personal car plates but this one is at least useful.

And I ask myself: Do I treat life as precious? Do I feel? Am I truly present? Tomorrow is never promised and, as we know, never comes.

I haven’t found one problem with retirement. I love it.
