This is a clear example of the kind of surveillance our city is under, Portland is under essentially a military occupation.

A laser was pointed at a helicopter and someone was tracked to their home with several immigrants who are now in ICE custody.

I am quite disappointed that in the venue of The Nation (led by our comrade @sunraysunray.bsky.social ) that our three letters never appear.

DSA has grown wildly since 2017 it is a very different organization now, but it is still the best vehicle the left broadly has in this country.

Obviously I am a partyist in DSA parlance, but I recognize our structure and current membership are not yet in a place to be the party we need today. Zohran’s victory and the movements to win his agenda, would be necessary training for our org to fulfill our historic obligation.

The authors call for a new organization that takes lessons from the 2008 OFA project. Specifically that it should do things to advance Zohran’s platform. A far better strategy than to be a political fundraising vacuum centered on a charismatic leader.

What role should DSA play?

I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to have a distinct organization for the 50,000 volunteers of Zohran’s army, but there is a 10,000 member organization that was at its nexus.

@socialists.nyc deserves its flowers for its members efforts to defeat the countries strongest democratic establishment.

The need to transition the capacity of Zohran’s electoral apparatus is very salient.

I think non-socialist working class organization is necessary for the left ecosystem.

However what bewilders me about the article from prominent @demsocialists.bsky.social members is the omission of DSA.

Nobody tells you this but by your third year as a DSA member (anywhere in the country) you will have a more fully formed opinion about NYC local politics than your average Brooklyn transplant.
