Ignorance applies to facts, and logic, and rationality. That’s not what any of this is about. All of this is about storytelling. Whether we want our story to be one of domination or liberation. Many Americans WANT to be dominators! Too many of us are bound by shock to see that truth.

Appealing to a common American ignorance is a strategic error. It gives fascists and their supporters too much cover. Everything that’s happening—DOGE, invasion talk, deporting immigrants, attacks on academics and education system, etc.—was all planned. It’s an excuse! Stop playing into it!

Countering American Exceptionalism goes both ways. If Americans aren’t literally God’s perfect little sharts on Earth, then neither are we uniquely prone to malice, propaganda, or ignorance.

At some point we have to accept a lot of us wanted EXACTLY what’s happening. No solving fascism otherwise.

Deny the GOP a normal state of the union. Prevent them from having a platform. Make sure the people hear that there is a plan to stop this madness in no uncertain terms.
