Every time I see images of tear gas filling the streets, I think about how it has been linked to spontaneous abortion. Fascists will prevent people from getting abortions while endangering wanted pregnancies. It’s reproductive control and coercion.

I love you ICE watchers and protestors and organizers who continue to wear a mask to keep us all safer from covid, other airborne viruses and pollution, and gov surveillance, and who care about disabled and immunocompromised comrades who are your neighbors and part of your community too.

The point is that "criminals" are created; it's not a neutral category. We see it in action every time a person is shot by police. If we make "criminals, we can also unmake them.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Policing as an institution must be abolished at every level. You can't reform a system that allows local PD to brutalize marginalized people, and you can't reform one that allows federal police to execute people in the streets.

Saying "what they want is violence, don't give it to them," is not only an incorrect assessment—fascist state agents are unleashing violence upon our communities daily, the peoples' response is not incitement—but further accuses the very people resisting fascism of its cause. A sick perversion.

As always, the gulf between the bald reality of the situation and the seeming lack of urgency among Democratic leadership in Washington is crazy-making.
