Still my favourite Word moment ever: Vic and Bob are on, as is Chris Isaak. For whatever reason, Vic and Bob are having an off night. After one particular moment has died an utter death, Chris leans over to Bob and says "They tell me you're the funny one".

When you're next in the UK I can recommend a few*

*A lot. Seriously, a lot.

Every bookshop benefits from having another bookshop three streets away.

I walked to the Royal Albert Hall from Earl's Court and back again literally *last night*. One vaguely noisy drunk yelling into a phone on the way there and, er, that's it...

The Morecambe and Wise "There Is Nothing Like A Dame" routine is hilarious because, at the time, it was *unthinkable*.

Robbery is great - it's the film that took Peter Yates to Hollywood and Bullitt.

Excellent. Meanwhile, if you're in the mood for surprisingly dark 60s British provincial crime thrillers, you'll love Payroll (1961)...

Love Stanley Baker's work. I strongly recommend Hell Is A City and Robbery if you haven't already...

As I've said elsewhere, if they really are contractually obliged to *broadcast* them, can't they just burn them off overnight?

Still processing yesterday's collapse of Spurgeon’s College, where I recently completed a Theology MA. It seems very precarious out there in academia at the moment, and my heart goes out to those who were currently studying there - what now for them? - and to those who've suddenly lost their jobs...

This, absolutely this. Also, there's a massive disconnect within the programme in that the game (overall) isn't interesting enough, while the task games are Only Connect-level cryptic.

Same. My immediate thought was Sunday Times Magazine just from the look of it, but you're right that the two giants looked very much the same.

If it's Celia Brayfield's byline, then it's probably the Times or Sunday Times.

The Matchbox King Size Mercury (pic 1), the Jaguar Mk X that's in several pics, and the Corgi Oldsmobile (pic 5) - and I'd still have change for a tenner. Absolute bargains.

I unironically adore this film. One or two moments that are spectacularly of their time, but a lovely cast on top form and a brilliant mix of slapstick and satire.

Bookish is very good for this. The budget has clearly gone on the production design, which is beautifully done (although in what universe does a London policeman drive a Hotchkiss?). The casting is also excellent - Mark Benton, for *one* scene - so yes, the best bits are two or three actors talking.
