There was like a fleet of high performance American machinery being passed amongst the UK engineers, who were used to driving econoboxes.

Just about every engineer from the UK that I worked with in F-35 flight test would immediately buy a sports car, large truck, or boat. They could not believe how much more they made here in the US.

As engineers would end their time in the US and new ones came over, cars and trucks got passed on

Absolute disaster as a planned review was cancelled the day before it was supposed to happen as we collectively realized our shit was not together

I beg of you: don’t model things you don’t understand

And as we fly among them there,
We're sure to hear their plea:
"Take care, my friend,
Watch your six,
And do one more roll...just for me."

We toast our hearty comrades
who have fallen from the sky,
And were gently caught by God's own hand
To be with Him on high,
To dwell among the soaring clouds
They’ve known so well before,
From victory roll to tail chase
At heavens' very door.

My code could look like the NASA graphics guide from the late 70s

I knew you would feel this way.

What programming fonts do you like?

Yeah it was a strategy discussion that very much hinged on the principals defaults for level of preference of individual agency versus central control

Who are high Signal to Noise (SNR) posters here in engineering, technology, mathematics, history, programming, space, and other nerdy topics? Recommendations, please.

It’s monolisa with ligatures

I alternate between that and Shanns, which is a monospaced comic sans. Sounds horrific but it’s helpful for keeping some levity in the work imo

Twitter is rewarding noise more than signal

Also, I've been writing tech documents a lot lately and I've been itching to do something that speaks to my heart more

I know this is babby stuff but I have to build the foundation here before I go on and implement the rest of Vallado

Yeah he gives you a MATLAB implementation already when you buy the book, but I understand things much better when I play around with trying to re-make them myself.

Thank you. People are going to be real disappointed here when I start complaining about astrodynamics, global navigation, or whatever is irritating me that day at work

I do that kind of thing *all the time* in real life. I walk away from conversations that don't interest me regularly.

They're saying what kind of place they want, and they can have it. I'll keep posting there, but this will be where I'm more analytical.

17.10.2024 02:56 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'll be real: one of the best things about the 90s and early 00's internet was that you had to be a little motivated to find and get into the best places to speak with people.

I also have little empathy for the whole "it's silly to make it so that you can't hear someone" argument.

17.10.2024 02:55 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm going to post more technical, thoughtful material here and save shitposting for the other site.

I know you've spoken about it elsewhere, but might be good to share some of your map-making methods here.

As you know, these are professional-quality maps.
