Great to be part of a DfE SEND reform event today

Heard from @tomrees.bsky.social & @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social & met some inspiring parents & community arts groups

Felt positive to talk about how we can be ambitious for children with SEND but also honest about challenges facing schools & families

I am delighted to be helping Historic Royal Palaces find the UK’s most inspiring teachers of history - I’ll be on the judging panel for the Central region of England.

Do you know a teacher who deserves to go down in history?

Nominate them now: bit.ly/42yhGZP

Just shared this with my Head as we often discuss the possibility of β€œcoaching” as a vague idea to develop teachers, but your blog raises some v important issues

Great to share research and ideas with History teachers across the country to support our pupils.

This evening I talked about how we can remove barriers for neurodivergent young people and build their confidence in the classroom and beyond

Hope attendees found it useful!

Not too hard! But too much content at GCSE and some exam questions encourage formulaic answers which do not reward genuine enquiry or higher order thinking. A Level history is hard but challenge is good!
