At this point one might be forgiven for asking what the fuck an author wants a tradpub contract for anyway, since the usual answers of “marketing reach & editorial support” no longer apply. And “enough advance to live on”? Haha, it is to laugh…

This is literally a trad publisher’s JOB, one of the reasons authors license their works to publishers in the first place. But tradpubs have been offloading marketing costs onto authors in order to pad profits & C-suite salaries.
