Now is always the time! (IMO, I think both sides have played this like adults... MIL has tried gambles to keep competitive, Giannis has given them a chance, they both see it's not happening, but what's a trade that helps either one reach their goals, much less both? No easy solution.)

That season was wild. Few people note that a big part of the reason GSW lost to CLE in the finals was that OKC was such a huge challenge in the previous round, so they basically ran out of gas when the finals went past 5 games

And the reason why various rules exist in the first place. I'm old enough to remember why the rookie salary cap was created - clear #1 draft picks in the early 1990s holding teams hostage for massive contracts before playing a single NBA minute. Merits aside, it was a PR disaster for the league.

This is absolutely true, and I don't begrudge players their right to find better situations. I'm just saying it's harder to root for as a fan, even when it's your team that benefits.

Relatedly, when your team signs/trades for an undervalued player who becomes immensely valuable, that is great as a fan! (i.e., you can adopt him as if he was a draft pick) But in my experience, signing known all-NBA talents like Shaq/KD just because your owner had cap space is a queasy feeling.

SGA's kind of a borderline case because he became a star with OKC (though his potential was recognized when he was traded), rather that establishing his fame elsewhere and then relocating

The rise of the "Lake Show" Van Exel/Eddie Jones team was one of my favorite times as a fan... I suppose the team with Shaq, Glen Rice, Horace Grant et al. was better, but I would watch and think, "Who are the *Lakers* on this team?!" They were all mercenaries, not homegrown; hard to root for that.

Because it's more fun to root for players who have always been on your team? I was a Lakers fan from the '80s to mid-'90s, but lost much of my passion when they signed Shaq (who I'd been rooting against, like any good non-ORL fan) and then brought in all sorts of outsiders through trades/FA (1/2)

The masks are an admission that everybody fucking hates ICE. Beat cops show their faces, FBI agents show their faces. ICE is so hated they can't walk the streets.

Steph Curry’s Final Act: β€œThere Are No Perfect Endings” NBA stars rarely get fairy-tale endings. But Steph still has his joy, and the hope for one more meaningful run. β€œThere’s still enough of a chance,” he says.

Fairytale endings are rare in the NBA. So how would Steph Curry like his final chapter to play out?

Spoke at length with Steph, as well as KD, Dirk and Steve Kerr. My latest, at The Ringer:

The official policy of the government of the United States of America is that they will murder anyone they want, that they will tell any lie necessary to justify that murder, and that no one who resists them has any rights they are bound to respect.

More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with β€œrule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

Trump is ordering his untrained goon army to go into states that did not vote for him to kill and maim people. That is the story.

If this is about "border protection," from "drug fueled" countries in South and Latin America: why isn't ICE in Texas or Arizona or fucking FLORIDA.

Oh wait, I know!

A bunch of rare earth speculators and techbros want the US to take Greenland so that the American taxpayer can foot the bill to make these resources commercially exploitable.

The W's may have other needs, but a second potent shooting/scoring threat to complement Curry is the most important one.

What People Magazine is doing is very important because it’s not the view from β€œthe right” or β€œthe left.” It’s the view from reality for anyone with a functioning brain

They’re calling balls and strikes with β€œhere is what happened” and β€œhere is what was said.” It’s calm, straight-forward journalism

Has anyone admitted the SJWs were right that MAGA were a bunch of incipient Nazis and our society was rife with seething bigotry that was barely being kept in check by social pressure?

If the DC press corps devoted 10% as much effort to analyzing Trump's obvious mental issues as they have to sanewashing his babbling I think the last few years would have gone real different.

Saying they did this for the oil gives the Trump regime too much credit. They could have had the oil and the gold without kidnapping Maduro. They did it for the headline.
