You are not seeing this slaughter live-streamed to your devices because Israel has murdered most of Gaza’s most prominent journalists in targeted assassinations.

Full solidarity with the flotilla, which represents the very best of humanity.

And eternal shame to the European states who refused to protect it from Israeli assault and establish a corridor for aid to Gaza.

Israel has bombed Qatar in an attempt to murder Gaza negotiators gathered for ceasefire talks, just days after bombing Yemen to murder the Prime Minister and cabinet in Sanaa, all while conducting a genocide.

Obscene levels of violence. A terrorist regime in the fullest sense.

Self-compassion makes you unashamed. It clears the shame that never belonged to you. Without shame shaping your self-love, you walk grounded in full self-regard. You finally understand that your presence is your alignment.

β€œDoctors are to Black women what police are to Black men.” This statement hits hard because it reflects an often painful truth: Black women are too often dismissed, ignored, and endangered in healthcare. Medical racism is real β€” and it’s costing lives.

If you’re chronically ill and struggling to rest or pace… you’re not alone.

Resting is hard. It’s frustrating to admit that you can’t just play through the pain the way you used to.

It’s also necessary.

I try to view rest as a form of radical self care and resistance.

It’s needed for survival.

Carla Kaplan, author | Official website | Zora Neale Hurston: A Life in Letters Details about Carla Kaplan's book, 'Zora Neale Hurston: A Life in Letters.'

Zora Neale Hurston died in 1960, yet her experiences as a Black woman parallel this very moment in time (2025). Six and a half decades later, very little has changed. 2/2

When I finished reading Zora Neale Hurston: A Life in Letters, I wept in a way that I can't explain. The enduring pattern in the way Black women, especially those who are intelligent, independent, and outspoken, are treated by society and its institutions is by design. 1/2
