This book is a banger. I'm proud to have been one of the editors and I think you should buy it. @roxanegay.bsky.social thinks you should too, as does my mom, who saw an early draft when it was open on my computer during a visit. She was like "i don't like comics (besides Archie), but this is great."

AI Is a Mass-Delusion Event Three years in, one of AI’s enduring impacts is to make people feel like they’re losing it.

Hello. I wrote a nice long essay about AI and this very strange moment where we're constantly told we're living in the dawn of a strange new future but the only thing that's actually clear is that everyone feels pretty unmoored and uncertain. I hope you'll read it

A notecard with the prompt, "What is something that was important to you that was taken in a sweep? How did it impact you?" The handwritten statement below says, "My momma’s ashes were displayed on my table in my tent. I came back one day β€” and EVERYTHING was gone, including her ashes. They were clearly labled β€˜In loving memory β€” my mom, my best friend…’ and her name. Her ashes were all that I had left of her. No one stored my stuff. I called tons of places and NO ONE knew anything. It is very difficult for me still, everyday. No warning, no remorse, nothing."

Save for my wallet, ID, and the clothes on my back, I had not brought anything with me. Unaware of the sweep, I returned to find my tent, my cot, all my clothing, several files with important document, literally everything; all of it, gone.”

People who experienced homeless encampment sweeps in Washington state and Tennessee wrote about the impact it had on their lives.

This weekend I am doing the sprint triathlon distance in the national championships race in Wisconsin. I expect to be smoked. I’m doing it because I qualified based on a tiny local race last year. I’ve never done a race this huge and I’m slightly terrifiedβ€”but here’s to saying yes to new experiences

Nonviolent Political Actions for Writers

1) Writing-speeches, letters, statements, flyers, leaflets, group letters, petitions...plus your poems, stories, plays, and commitment to making art as a person who desires a better world.

2) Banners bumperstickers, t-shirts, protest signs, sky-writing, sidewalk chalk, broadcasts, social media posts, articles, editorials, displays of language in public places.

3) Symbolic Acts-pickets, marches, prayer circles, vigils, mock awards, delivering symbolic objects (pies, dildos, dead flowers, glasses of water delivered by citizens of Flint, MI, to their local politicians, etc), displays of flags or other symbolic objects (in the Polish Solidarity movement, members wore electronic "resistors" from radios), public performances, satire, costumes (pussy hats at the Women's March; nuns' habits worn by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, etc.), disrobings, die-ins, mock funerals, effigies, puppets.

4) Public disapproval-whistles, bullhorns, assemblies, sit-ins, stand-ins, ride-ins, solidarity with those being attacked (Angel Action against the Westboro Baptist Church, US Veterans acting as "Human Shields" to protect the Standing Rock protesters), walk-outs, silence, withholding approval, turning one's back, boycott, sanctuary, total personal non-cooperation, conscientious objector status.

5) Witness-At any level of action, remember that action speaks louder with words. You not only have to be willing to participate, you must be willing to testify. You are here on this earth at this time. Don't act like you're not a part of what's going on.
