Refugees who were months away from settlement now face 15-year wait Shabana Mahmood's asylum reforms will apply retrospectively, it has been confirmed โ and it is claimed the bureaucracy will cost up to ยฃ1.3bn Matt Dathan, Home Affairs Editor Monday November 24 2025, 12.01am, The Times Thousands of refugees who believed they were months from settlement now face 15 years of instability after it was confirmed that Shabana Mahmood's overhaul of asylum rules would apply retrospectively.
Labour's anti-asylum policies are already fundamentally inhumane and discriminatory. Applying them retrospectively is pure cruelty though. It serves absolutely no purpose. Meanwhile it will increase the costs and bureaucracy of an already dysfunctional Home Office.

A lanyard can also be a security issue, because some companies will require anyone (employees, contractors, visitors, etc) on their premises to wear a pass visibly around their neck, and will require anyone to challenge someone going around without a visible pass.
I suppose security is woke.๐๐คฃ๐ฎ
This lanyard is definitely, definitely woke ๐๐คฃ
Glasman would hate it, actually he would ban it, burn it at the stake ๐ฑ

At the very least, I'm hoping a future Labour leader (not the current one, obviously) will remove the Labour whip from Glasman.

24.11.2025 18:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Whatever the label, migrants are always presented as people who take from the UK (jobs, benefits, women, etc). They apparently don't contribute anything (other than social problems, perhaps) but "we will make sure they do!" I just find the perception shift interesting

Perhaps more than anything, Lord Glasman wants a return to sanity. He is repulsed by the officious, rules-based, professional classes who preach that โup is down, men are women, right is wrongโ. Who tell us that truth is subjective and must be suborned to kindness. He recently took part in a Newsnight panel alongside a doctor. โIn the lift afterwards, I asked him, โIf a bloke comes to you with a penis and says theyโre a woman, youโll accept that?โ And he replied, โOf course.โ This is bonkers.โ
Why is transphobia the default state for so many arseholes?
23.11.2025 15:19 โ ๐ 495 ๐ 49 ๐ฌ 14 ๐ 23Even the term โprogressiveโ makes Lord Glasman shudder. His mother died of progressive supranuclear palsy. โEvery word of that condition is terrible. She lost all her bodily functions, yet her brain remained intact, leaving her a mute witness to her own demise. It took six years to kill her, and to cure me of any fantasy that โprogressiveโ is desirable.โ
There are some truly unhinged bits in the piece about Glasman, as to be expected when dealing with Glasman, but seriously what the actual? That's...one hell of a conflation of terminology.

I think "Ethnicity" (like gender) is to some extent (beyond what is imposed to each one of us by nature and heredity) "self-defined".

B/c Glasman/McSweeney earned Starmer a huge majority in 2024 by cobbling together a "coalition" of liberal-minded,socially-orientated (typically "metropolitan",like me๐) + "traditional" Labour voters, typically in the North of England, who are seen, rightly or wrongly, as "socially conservative". 2/3
