The dreamy state it felt like the protagonist was in, like there was a constant veiling to the society he lived in, in the job and place he worked for, was also poignant. Death to the people who challenged the state, even with their dreams. it was haunting! #booksky #Albanian #dystopian

Just finished the Palace of Dreams by Ismail Kadare, and it was very slow and windy for just over 200 pages. The constant confusion and fear, feeling like the protagonist is always trying to catch up felt like a solid parallel to how it feels living through authoritarianism.
