Trump suggests federal control of elections in βsome areasβ
In a lengthy interview with NBC, the president said he will accept the results of the midterm elections if they are βhonest.β
This is an authoritarian power grab, full stop.
Nationalizing elections would put the executive branch in control of who votes and how. Thatβs how dictators rig outcomes, crush opposition, and assault democratic self-government.
This should alarm everyone: www.ms.now/news/trump-s...

so...this #StorygraphReadsTheWorld challenge is shit. People are just adding books with no care whether it actually fits the category. Thailand was a mishmosh of a bunch of Asian ethnicities, and now I'm seeing Senegal has Nigerian writers in the list. This ignorance is pissing me off. #booksky

instead of trying to add up hundreds of books at the end of the year, im going to start a #librarysavesme series where at the end of the month, I list how much I've saved reading from the library. January, I saved $347! π

logikitty's January wrap up
19 books, 2,260 pages, 94.15 hours, and average rating 4.47. the highest rated books were spyxfamily volume 15 by tatsuya endo, semi well-adjusted despite literally everything by alyson stoner, and 5 worlds: the amber anthem by Alexis and Mark Siegel. the average book length is 268 pages, with it taking an average of 11 days to complete books. theres a graph on the bottom showing the variation with pages and minutes read throughout the month.
logikitty's January wrap up. 84% fiction and 16% nonfiction with a pie graph showing the rates. 89% <300 pages and 11% 300-499 pages with a pie graph showing the rates. less than 8 hours 30% and 8-15:59 hours 70% with a pie graph showing the rates. the top genres this month was fantasy, middle grade, graphic novel, literacy, and contemporary. 53% of books were audio, 42% print, and 5% digital.
here's my little #januarywrapup from #storygraph! I was committed to reading less in general this year, and commit to reading more prose than graphic novels/manga. I didn't win this first month, only because I had so many leftover library books that needed to be read from the prior year!

The dreamy state it felt like the protagonist was in, like there was a constant veiling to the society he lived in, in the job and place he worked for, was also poignant. Death to the people who challenged the state, even with their dreams. it was haunting! #booksky #Albanian #dystopian

Just finished the Palace of Dreams by Ismail Kadare, and it was very slow and windy for just over 200 pages. The constant confusion and fear, feeling like the protagonist is always trying to catch up felt like a solid parallel to how it feels living through authoritarianism.
