Some of the best of the season*

Every Chelsea fan has said it multiple times before, but if Clearlake have any ambition, now is the time to target a couple of priority positions and bringing in world class, experienced players. One of those has to be a centre back, and probably another centre mid. But do they have ambition?

We played some lovely football tonight, some of the season, and would still have won but for an unbelievable miss. But you can’t be gifting the opposition 2 goals and then looking at anything other than the lack of quality within all 6 defenders who got on the pitch for not winning that game.

On top of that, Caicedo has fallen off a cliff since that Arsenal red card. Without his stupidity tonight, we probably see the game out. But as soon as the pressure rises at 2-1, every single one of our defenders panic and that’s where the equaliser comes from. No-one takes charge and leads.

Money needs to be spent on that central defence this window. Chalobah is OK but can’t lead a defence. Fofana looks scared of getting hurt again. Josh is young. Badiashite is League 2 level with a shocking level of arrogance. If we want to progress, they all need to be upgraded with experience.

Imagine an end to the season where Arsenal bottle the league and Sp*rs get relegated. I’d need a minimum of a week off work to get through all the laughing!!

Same for me as well. It was actually good to see we had a game-plan and had worked on a way to play against a specific opposition. We haven’t seen much of that in the last 2 years but we are still far too safe with the ball, we need to find a way of getting our creative players on the ball in space.

What the fuck was that. I can’t point to even one single thing any of those 11 did right during that half. Out of position, cowardly, lazy, arrogant, the whole lot of them.

This is horrific football

Result is better than the performance, but don’t underestimate what that result means. Came from behind in a hostile atmosphere and have put ourselves through without the play-off. That’s huge.

I don’t watch games as a neutral any more. I watch the Chelsea men’s games as an excuse to have a beer or 2 with my dad, and I go to the Chelsea women’s games with him and my son for some live action.

I legitimately hate modern football. It’s been killed as an enjoyable spectator sport.

😂 silly me. Much better to play passes in front of your own goal rather than the opposition’s. It draws them out and then you’ve only got 80 yards to go to get a shooting chance. It’s all so obvious now, not sure why I couldn’t see it before. Much better than getting the ball forward quickly.

Plus those teams could actually defend. Imagine the likes of Drogba, Henry, Van Nistelrooy against these lightweight pussies. They’d eat them alive.

Literally every team now would get smashed by the Arsenal “Invincibles”, Chelsea 04/05, United 07/08, and other teams from that era and before. Maybe they might be more athletic now, but that lot would never give the gifts away that “elite” teams do now with their stupid arrogance.

Entirely on Rosenior. Save me from managers who think they’re fucking geniuses who have cracked some sort of code. Play simple football, with players in their proper positions. Fucking stop trying to make football more complicated than it actually is.

That was dreadful

Yep, agreed on BlueCo, but it’s not just us. Teams all over do it and it’s made the sport horrendous to watch, even as a neutral.

Absolutely, I wasn’t necessarily praising Arsenal, just that Pep’s football fails, regardless of who else wins it. Let’s get away from the obsession with having the ball and doing fuck all with it.

Cannot underestimate the damage this “control” football does to players, turning them all into braindead robots. I obviously don’t want Arse to win the league, but if it finally kills off everyone following Pep’s football and we get some excitement back into the sport, it might be worth it.

And you claimed that it was just a player skill issue and the manager shouldn’t be blamed. That was the point I argued against.

That was me and I’ll give you tonight, Sanchez and the defence absolutely let everyone down. But that doesn’t change the fact that Maresca is a fraud and was actively holding players back. Let’s wait and see where he ends up with his next job, still willing to bet no top team touches him.

As with so much BlueCo have done, some good mixed with the inexplicable. The appointment makes sense for a variety of reasons (even if it wouldn’t be my first choice) but there’s absolutely no reason for a 6 year deal, which just makes the club look silly. Surely he would have agreed to 2/3 years.

😂 funnily enough, Gusto himself looked better in his proper position as well. Who knew?!

Perhaps he should have been trusted earlier in the season 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m holding on judgement to see a bit more of these players under a different manager. Palmer looks rusty, Neto and João have been played incorrectly and look drained of confidence. I’m willing to give them a chance to play under a manager who uses them to their strengths.
