VIA does CRAAAAANK the heat and also have freezing episodes though. It might also be the train’s fault. On my way to TO they were jacking the heat every time the doors were open, which did make the whole ride feel like one long vasomotor symptom.

I got this holiday sweater because 1) it has cool swoopy sleeves and 2) looks like it says FALAFEL. The great thing is, everyone at the event also thought it said falafel, which made for a very special evening.

The whole way!!! I did San Diego to SF and can tell you the rest of it is also cool. Train hugs the cliff and you look straight down into the ocean.

People solving housing and transit problems is a tonic for the nerves.

I enjoy the dulcet tones of an urbanism podcast.

Nothing better than looking up from writing and gazing out a train window to think.

I also have audiobooks which is on a similar band.

I find them very soothing.

Guildwood and back, thereby coming within 15 minutes of two large cities without quite setting foot in either of them.

Trains are cool. You can step off the metro and onto a train, and in a few hours be in a whole other place with all your work or reading done for the day. No one scans your luggage or makes you take off your shoes. It’s just good.

I chose to make a medley of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass for my figure skating routine when I was 10, so I've arguably been 79 for almost 4 decades. Also: could not understand why it was so hard to fit in with my peers. Wow and lol.
