“Historian” on this list is wild to me. I think a lot about how quickly we forget things, and how “history” is a result of specific people’s special interest in trying to find out what happened, according to personally relevant constraints.

I notice when I’m visiting that “there’s no parking” means “I don’t want to drive one extra block.” It feels bizarre as a passenger to see how much emotion there is about it in the car.

Legendary library shit

My library has a whole maker lab w electronics equipment and 3d printing, and they lend board games and musical instruments. They make it hard to not always be there.

Seventeen tartans in my inbox today, including this one, for a bookstore and its founder, lovingly commemorating the Scottish town where it's located. #TartanTuesday #Tartan www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetail...

Yeah any programme from seven years ago kind of just says “remember our heyday?” Save it for Stars on Ice.

Like the American one was so problematic (owner controls upkeep and can bring the state to its knees at will) that the Americans were looking forward to the Canadian one.

The American bridge that’s already there is owned by a lone billionaire, for profit, so I’m guessing that could be who’s behind this.

The Canadian bridge is a workaround that’s to the advantage of the US. I’m guessing the Detroit Bridge Billionaire has a hand in this.

For additional context there’s an ep of 99% Invisible about how the existing Ambassador Bridge is privately owned, and how that’s a huge disadvantage for the US. pca.st/episode/34f4...

Okay, spent the weekend proofing my own essay, then got to reading a bunch of other entries in the Game Narrative Kaleidoscope anthology -- and uhhhhh this thing is incredible.

100+ tight reads, expert lessons every 2 pages, a real insight into the varied complexities of creative work.

Bravo, all

Same. I sold my ebike and reinvested the whole sum in a higher quality acoustic bike, and I'm much happier now, but I needed the ebike until I was healthier.

In the year or two before I got access to medication that works, when my joints were all inflamed, an ebike made it possible for me to stay active, and get to where I needed to go.

Artificial teeth are a great option to have if your natural teeth fall out, but you wouldn't rip your teeth out to get them. The same is true for intelligence.
