The X song is even more confusing because at some point "off the hook" started to mean "good" or "superlative" rather than "no longer culpable".

I've got a whole mental collection of song references to old-skool telephones that "kids these days" just won't get. One of the best is a track that uses the loud "you left the phone off the hook" beeping as a background sound.

I had never heard of Vaporeon before this week, but this is my third reference to the character being sexy. Maybe I hang out in the wrong places?

First computer I used was an IMSAI 8080 with a dot matrix printer terminal. Wasted a lot of paper playing Wumpus and Star Trek.

First computer that was mine was a TRS 80 Model I with a whopping 4K of RAM. Wrote my own extremely cheesy "video game" in BASIC.

I'm halfway through it and so far it does not suck.

When it happens, you're probably not even going to learn about it directly before you feel it in the air. You'll just hear car horns and cheering in the streets. You'll feel confused, annoyed. You'll check your phone. Huh, 41 new texts.

This was a particularly good set. Holzerhurd, Gosudar, and Kamra were solid hits for me. Also the side-recommendation for Radon, who, in turn, recommended krmk (krmk.bandcamp.com).

But you gotta dial it back -- I already have more music than I can sanely listen to!

A crosswalk entrance under construction, In which a metal pole has been mounted in the center of the wheelchair ramp, making it inaccessible to anyone who needs the ramp. The pole is about 5 ft high, and on the top is the push button for the crosswalk.

This is obviously a temporary construction measure, but still it's some comically bad infrastructure. "Fuck you in particular, wheelchair user!"

I made it all the way to 58 before I downloaded Merlin.

I did go through a short bird photography phase a few years earlier, before I realized I did not have the patience for that.

I like this piece. The rendering in both the pencil and paint is excellent, and the juxtaposition of the two mediums is great.

But you are horribly wrong about that candy. Those things are excellent.

Why am I here, and not there? There looks better.

I liked Foundryside well enough when I read it, but I didn't finish the series. 🤷

I picked that up after hearing it on his blog.
