For those not familiar with this location, the planes coming in from the U.S. usually pass close by Ireland's Eye just before landing at Dublin airport, a great reminder that Dublin has some very special places - but lots of cautions about visiting this spot in this story

Ah yes, the classic 'I’m only going to be a minute' - closely followed by its cousin, 'I was only gone a second' - a familiar song to bicyclists dealing with cars in bike lanes & parking officers addressing double-parkers

However the U.S. is full of folks who find creative ways to get things done thru innovative partnerships & strategies. NACTO is a great example but there’s no shortage of others - it's an under-appreciated aspect of the culture - rooted in the skills of building from scratch in a young country

Anyone involved in biking and pedestrian projects knows how painfully slow progress can be - sometimes decades. When even a Minister for Transport is publicly frustrated by such delays, what hope do volunteer advocates have? Lately, the question I keep asking is "Will this happen in my lifetime?"

If you need an excuse to go out and enjoy this week's springtime weather: the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail (east bank) has new history signs!

I just wanted to shop, not take photos of baffling tactile tile placement. This parking lot has them everywhere except where they belong. Accessibility deserves more thoughtful execution.

Not many experiences compare to this 1958 traffic garden in Düsseldorf where some lucky students got to operate a real child-sized tram that carried young passengers. Long gone now, this has to be the most ambitious miniature worlds ever built for introducing transport ideas cutt.ly/HrxEIS9A

Happy Bike to School Day -especially to the amazing school systems teaching every student how to ride! Fantastic to see the spotlight on DCPS 2nd Grade PE program, which has taught 10's of thousands kids biking skills - culminating in 5–7 mile community ride! A highlight of elementary school in DC!

Building is exciting - maintenance, not so much. But when you build something, you’re also committing to its care. Without upkeep, you lose utility, shorten lifespan & make it less inviting. Here’s the rub: biking is so light on infrastructure unlike cars & trucks which damage with every trip

Just so we're clear - people on non-immigrant visas could lose their shot at a green card & green card holders might lose status or get denied reentry. And folks without visas/w temporary protections..... So yeah, an entire life can be upended over whether or not they went thru a red light legally
