The 80-year recipe stoking America’s Prosperity:

1) Free-market capital investments in brilliant ideas…
2) enabled by Engineering Innovations…
3) based on Science Research in Universities…
4) funded by Grants from the US Government.

It’s time more people understood this.

Democrats Are Acting Too Normal In her response to Trump’s address, Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin failed to capture the hallucinatory nature of our national politics.

America does not need a ‘resistance,’ or stale slogans, or people putting those slogans on little paddles. It needs an opposition party that boldly defends the nation’s virtues, the rule of law, and the rights of its people.

CDC 'disease detectors' among hundreds fired as Trump administration ramps up agency cuts Administration officials last week informed CDC leaders of plans to cut up to 10% of its workforce as it targeted federal probationary employees.

New: Last night, hundreds of CDC post-doc fellows were fired, including all in the group who call themselves the "disease detectors," and are the future of public health lab leaders. One senior official told me, "It is going to cripple public health for decades."

Me holding my newest book from Tom Nichols, The Death of Expertise: The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why It Matters

I’m not that far into this book yet, but already I think I’m going to highly recommend it to everyone who values learning, and understands that they can’t learn it all. @radiofreetom.bsky.social’s writing is succinct, clear, and — dare I say this? — it seems like he knows what he’s talking about.

On MTP, @schiff.senate.gov spurns the idea of a pardon from Biden to shield him from MAGA vengeance. He says even if Trump abuses the pardon power, Dems shouldn't join in the precedent of "an outgoing president giving a broad group of pardons to members of his party." www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-pre...

Spent the day talking to Europeans, and nobody can think of any precedent for what Musk just did to the US Congress. There is no businessman with that much power, the power to stop a routine spending bill, anywhere else in the democratic world.

If we weren't at such a weird moment in history, the collapse of Assad's regime would be widely understood as a huge success for the Biden administration, which pursued sanctions on Russia and Iran as well as Syria, armed Ukraine and thus weakened Russia, and supported Syrian democrats and activists

It is very hard not to be cynical about this. These Republicans and GOP-aligned industries knew what they were backing, and did it anyway, fearing they’d lose their seats for not being in lockstep with Trump, or figuring they could donate their way out of whatever Trump is planning.

Today would be a great time for our federal government and leaders in Congress to take a hard look at the Insurrection Act and national emergency processes and figure out what their plan is if they are implemented illegally.

That would be great guys.
