Other groups who are already organized to some degree and could resist effectively if they weren't worn down, like Veterans and the film/tv industry, are also being hit with massive unemployment or underemployment in an effort to weaken their unions and organizing institutions.

This is aimed mostly at those in the government’s employ most likely to have college degrees to simultaneously devalue higher education, but not exclusively. This why DEI roles are being decimated: those who hold these positions likely hold graduate degrees & are fairly effective at organizing. 🧵

Lumpenproltariat: a large group of workers w/o work which is meant to act as an idle labor reserve that can be used to drive down wages, squash efforts to unionize, and further increase the scarcity mindset for the working class to prevent workers from fighting back against oppressive policies. 🧵

Some thoughts prompted by a re-reading of Alicia Broderick's book, The Autism Industrial Complex, & Broderick's exploration of Jackie Wang's work on Marx's lumpen class: The mass govt firings are the first steps in an effort to create a substantial lumpenproletariat. (gif to pay the algorithm) 🧵

Actions like this have worked in the past and in other countries. It can work here, too, but it will take collective action from as many people as possible to make it felt keenly by those who need to be shown their power has limits.

It’s not really narrative as much as it is informative. It kind of reads like the begets section of the Bible in places, and that was Tolkien’s intention.

He knew what it meant and who it would offend. He also knows to whom it sends a clear, dogwhistle, and that was the point. Musk believes that he is above any consequences for his actions, again not b/c autism, but b/c he's an unapologetically atrocious person.

Autism doesn't excuse offensive, chosen behavior for anyone. Autism doesn't prevent us from being held accountable for our choices. Musk knew what he was doing, and it was not an accident.

To be fair, most autistic people are good people, and we do usually have a strong sense of justice, but our perspective on what constitutes justice can be skewed and warped, just like any other human being who chooses to be selfish and put themselves above the society in which they live.

Autistic people can and do make mistakes; they can and do make bad choices; they can and do believe things that are false. Autistic people can lie, can do things for their own personal gain, and can be jerks and a$$holes.

If they actually shut down the Dept of Education, as threatened, there won’t be any federal aid/grant funding to use as pressure. Only schools that have extremely healthy endowments and the ability to generate revenue from sources other than tuition & federal funding will survive. That’s my fear.

I think we'll see some protections continue in blue states, but that may lead to even more self-segregation, as students try to flee states they feel unsafe in for schools in states with stronger legal protections. This may also make the competition for admissions even tougher for everyone.

Our young family lived just outside of LA, when we were just starting out. Our oldest was born there. My heart is breaking for the devastation being wrecked upon our former community. We fervently hope there are no more deaths & that the fire fighters get the support and materials they need quickly.

I've been hearing about this "Telepathy Tapes" podcast gaining interest, and I find this disturbing. Autism does not create superpowers, & non-speaking autistic kids do not have telepathy. Sorry to burst your cognitive dissonance bubbles, but this is really dangerous. Consume podcasts w/ skepticism.

That headline & the evidence that it was likely a targeted attack: there is a story of extreme frustration & loss behind this killing. Not to condone this kind of violence, but it’s not hard to understand the motivation behind it when insurers are profiting exponentially from people’s suffering.
