The best thing I ever did was to let go of my pretentiousness about the music I like and how I consume it. Music is fun and people like it in different ways for different reasons that have zero impact on my enjoyment of it.

We are in deeply abnormal times, and even if individuals aren't exhibiting pandemic-related mental/emotional responses, the pandemic clearly had a collective impact on society. The same is also true of 9/11, the other example in the episode. I mean, we took our shoes off at airports for 20 years 🤷‍♂️

Interesting episode but I can't let got of what seemed like a throwaway mention of the pandemic's lack of a meaningful impact on mental health. This doesn't square with what I've read or what I've experienced personally (parent of teens, friend of teachers). Or the state of our society now.

What's at the bottom of a lot of these comments is a bunch of grown ups are rationalizing their addictions to screens.

It is stupidly complicated. You can changes the settings on “screen time” but it’s a lot of menus, clicks, and swipes and the settings will apply across all devices connected to your Apple account. Seems like a “kid mode” toggle is long overdue.

It's OK to make fans happy, sometimes. It's also OK to pay a player what they are worth in the market, whether the spreadsheet tells you to do that or not.

The point is that we want to see the Orioles (that is, the major league club) succeed. Baker's decline notwithstanding, the MLB team needs MLB players, and players in the minors are not that.

I've heard all the complaints about his decline and how he'll be "overpriced" this offseason but that's the market. If the O's want to be a competitive team, they have to rise to the level of their competition on and off the field.

If they're reluctant to do 10+ year deals, they could've just kept Mullins and given him a three-to-five year deal in the offseason. That would've kept him on the team until the end of his career and signaled to young players and fans that they're willing to make real commitments.

That's a good point, and I've generally been supportive of Elias, but this past offseason was not successful by any measure and I think the broadly felt frustration is completely warranted.

But the frustration for me is that nothing I've seen over the last year from the front office indicates an aggressive approach to winning during this "window". None of these trades make the Orioles better in 2026, unless you buy the "clearing space" idea

We all know it's probably going to happen, but with all the reporters and the TV guys saying he's gone, why isn't anyone sharing what they know? Clearly folks with connections to the team know something's in the works.
